Guys, if you haven’t had a chance to read Rafe’s “When a Human Gives Birth to a Raven” (open access with UCP) do it! It’s a game-changer! If you don’t have time for the entire book, my review came out this week with AJS Review.
Thanks @monikaamsler.bsky.social for this iconic pic of the wonderful panel in which #SarahIlesJohnston, #JeremyMcInerney, #KarenBritt, #RaananBoustan, #BlakeLeyerle, and #Denisa Hradilová, engaged my book in dialogue with their own work on art, hybrids, monsters, animals, and menageries! 1/x

i’m biased, but i’m thinking academic(!) religious studies needs to be taught in US public schools.
VP JD Vance stood before a crowd and tried to falsify history, claiming Christians ended widespread mass child-sacrifice practices among Native Americans

meanwhile, Islamophobic hate crimes have been on the rise for several years, alongside every other variety of hate crime.

What I always find fascinating about comments like this is that they have been made about literally every immigrant group throughout American history: Germans, Irish, Miller's Jewish ancestors, etc.

I don’t care for this colonial holiday, but I’m definitely thankful for all of you friends, especially those who buoyed my spirit this past weekend in Boston or otherwise supported what we’re trying to do, particularly over these last few months

it’s never too early for gratitude, but today I’m thankful to be home and for these awesome mini-zines Lynn Huber @lhuber.bsky.social made for her review of *Trans Biblical* this past weekend!

This is why OpenAI is selling so aggressively to education at all levels—they want to create entire generations of users incapable of reading, writing and thinking without ChatGPT to hold their hands

And teachers and professors should call this out for what it actually is
To bear out this rosy projection, HSBC assumes that OpenAI will become "as ubiquitous [...] as Microsoft 365" (345mm users worldwide) while bringing in 10x the number of users (3bn).

one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.

I've never understood how being trans is 'unnatural' and 'artificial' yet somehow so contagious and attractive at mere exposure to a book can turn kids trans. For something that's supposed to be 'biologically determined' and 'God's way' cisgender identity really is extraordinarily fragile.

Those going SBL, here’s a panel not to miss: a review session of Sarah Bond’s book Strike (Yale, 2025), with responses by Jen Quigley, Richard Last, Larry Welborn, and Laura Nasrallah. Should be a great conversation! Many thanks to Agnes Choi for taking the lead on organizing.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. It is a day when we in the trans community remember those who have been murdered or committed suicide in the last year. We read their names, so that they won’t be forgotten. For many of us, it is an emotional day. We know that it could have been us.

Head to a Pavement location instead! Boston business w/ unionized baristas. Their shops on Newbury St and Boylston are both just a couple of blocks from Hynes Convention Center.
On your way to AAR/SBL? Skip the Starbucks, the baristas are on strike

I mean, skip it anyways, but
