Easy to ask for money, hard to summarize the work we've done to earn your trust over the past year (never mind the seven before that). A thread that highlights some of the essays that took off since Trump was reelected.
This will be a thread of the most widely read essays we've published since the 2024 election, by author. Hopefully this will give you a good view into the kind of publication we're asking you to support. gofund.me/9779a6cb8

The is a reason normal people are being forced into buying dodgy sticks and blag footy kits

Football use to be affordable, live matches were free on BBC & ITV

Everything has been made less accessible through legit channels

Telling people you might get a rash from a £12 kit so buy the £110 one 🤮

Love it when an author writes a really clear letter alongside their R&R resubmission. Conversely: please do not write really shit letters.

Is there any good philosophy stuff about why AI is bad (or even good) in the humanities classroom and beyond? I'm teaching an entirely asynchronous intro to philosophy class next year, and I'm fed up of the AI crap in student assignments, so I want to address it intellectually.

Red, bold, italic.

Painful to try to understand what is important here!

My favorite ever letter of recommendation is one Ficino wrote in the late 1500s, recommending a pupil for a secretary job with King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary, in which he says the young man is “the reincarnation of Saint Thomas Aquinas.”
It’s letter-of-recommendation season again, when universities ask me to rate a 21 year old student’s ability to “see the big picture of life” while I eat leftover pasta in a Tupperware…

Someone needs to create a guide to Wilson books as Christmas presents. The Outsider for your mad uncle. The Names Heard Long Ago for my wife who speaks some Hungarian, etc.
Not long now till Christmas.

Imagine the joy on their faces if they open a biography of the Charltons on Christmas morning…

It’s performance nationalism with a reading age of seven.
