is designated a National Historic Landmark.

That means:

It’s formally recognized as having exceptional national historical significance.

Any substantial changes, demolitions, or new construction affecting it are tightly restricted.

It’s not his house! WTF.

President began demolishing the East Wing of the WH to build there his $200M+ ballroom.

East Wing was built in 1942 during the presidency of FDR. It was constructed to cover the bunker that he used during WWII and the President's Emergency Operations Center.

While we spectate on The East Wing being torn down, it isn’t just another hallway, it’s where Eleanor Roosevelt built the modern Office of the First Lady, where WWII bunkers were hidden, and where the public enters the People’s House. Erasing it is rewriting history.

I don’t see any structural supports to prevent collapse of nor to protect the original building… precautions to avoid caving in entire building … And he’s using a fire hose to spray water inside the building which houses the bunker underneath… press room has been demolished.

The destruction of the East Wing really bums me out in a way that I wasn't expecting.

I guess some of it is about the destruction of history. But I think it's mostly about the feeling of helplessness. There's nothing we can do to stop him.

Nobody is coming to save us. And it's going to get worse.
