Wow!, the director of Elio is complimenting Kpop Demon Hunters and its success?

It almost seems like all those videos and claims that Disney is jealous of that movie and are enemies with Sony Animation are completely full of shit.

The co-director of Elio complimenting K-POP Demon Hunters?

🎶Ohhhh Saberspark?🎶😈
‘ELIO’ co-director Domee Shi on original animated films:

“It’s hard. Elio got massacred at the box office even though audiences who saw it loved it. The question is how to push original theatrical films through all the noise. I’m hopeful, though. Maggie’s [KPop Demon Hunters] gives me hope.”

Again, a notable example of Disney artists and non-Disney artists having absolutely NO animosity towards each other.

Yes, “animation is cinema” people, studios support each other. Pixar CEO Pete Doctor praised Spider-Verse a few years back so you shouldn’t be that shocked.

I’m about to get into some other Christmas Carol adaptations soon. I will say that Mickey’s Christmas Carol is a favorite of mine, with how it used Disney’s most iconic characters to fit the story, all under Burny Mattinson’s excellent direction. He will surely be missed. ❤️💚

AI has no place for the jobs we’re aspiring towards, especially for artists like me. It especially doesn’t belong in animation. With the recent deal with Disney on OpenAI, lets make our voices louder than ever in any way we can.

Zootopia 2 hitting a billion today and many at Disney Animation not being happy about Disney's deal with OpenAI just feels cathartic.

The film ending the way it did has only been more and more better. It really was a film made by everyone there in all the best ways.

I hate generative AI and how harmful it is to artists and I just want it to go away already.

I’ve done this fun challenge on Instagram in the past couple of years. I don’t know if I’ll make as much pieces as I did for 2024, because I want to relax during winter break, but we’ll see.

I feel like we should rethink on how we depend on critics and reviewers. I still watch those who are like Animated Antic or AniMat and I’m thinking about getting into Chris Stuckmann with how good I heard he is, but this year, I’ve become more independent with how I feel about the films I see.

No reviewer should be forced to conform to whatever the popular consensus is, either with critics or audiences.

The whole purpose of media reviewing is to give *your* opinion. Trying to push others to like/dislike something more than they do because "objectivity" or something defeats the point.

Reviewers and critics shouldn't have to bow down to their audience if their review is different from the general consensus. If it's different from their opinion, that's fine. Makes their voice more unique than anything. You shouldn't get so attached to what critics say.

Keep physical media.
Download movies.
Share them.
Because they could be erased by the powers that be.

Not everyone agrees with Animat on some things (I was not on board with what he said about Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, but he has since buried the hatchet with Sony Pictures Animation), but that is just nasty to say, especially as Animat is an educated fan of animation, including Disney.
There is so much hatred in his heart to go after someone like AniMat over something extremely petty and how he’s irrelevant to the topic of the video.

Mat had had some very unpopular opinions, and Wish is no exception. However, are people still this butthurt over him liking the film? This is just very insulting.

It took me a few days last week to watch this, but this was a fascinating story on how Disney has always been trying and failing to utilize the concept of “living characters” into their parks. Check it out if you can
So you made a robot stand up and talk... now what? In this over 4-hour journey, Kevin follows the promise of Disney's Living Character Initiative, an effort to populate Disney theme parks with free-roaming, interactive beings. It was touted as the future. How's it going? Watch here: bit.ly/49C6vng

Movies aren't content and they shouldn't be treated as digital coupons by a studio that they can wave around to people. They're works of art that deserve to belong in the cinema and also be put on home video collections to be cherished. That's what makes them special.
