We’re thankfully long since passed the days when the animation industry were actually rivals particularly during the golden age of animation with Disney, Warner Bros, MGM etc.
Yes, “animation is cinema” people, studios support each other. Pixar CEO Pete Doctor praised Spider-Verse a few years back so you shouldn’t be that shocked.
‘ELIO’ co-director Domee Shi on original animated films:

“It’s hard. Elio got massacred at the box office even though audiences who saw it loved it. The question is how to push original theatrical films through all the noise. I’m hopeful, though. Maggie’s [KPop Demon Hunters] gives me hope.”

The second Mary Poppins star to make it to 100, and certainly well deserved!
Dick Van Dyke is 100 today, Happy Birthday Dick 🎁🎂

Me before seeing TADC episode 7: “This is going to be a heavy one especially after how heavy last episode was.”

Me after watching it: (without spoiling anything)… “wow….

and I thought Across the Spiderverse ended on such an effective cliffhanger…”

I was initially intrigued when this was announced and when they showed that scene with Seth Rogen. It felt like maybe he was going to play against type and do something interesting with this film. But after seeing this trailer…
Yikes!
Hopefully, this is just a bad first impression, but still, yikes!
First trailer for Andy Serkis’ ‘ANIMAL FARM’ has dropped.

In theaters May 1.

A Muppet Christmas Carol was the first major Muppet project after the deaths of Jim Henson and Richard Hunt, and the sorrow of their loss echoes in this scene and Bob's speech mourning Tiny Tim.

And when you realize that Brian Henson directed this, you know he had to be thinking of his father...

Wow!, the director of Elio is complimenting Kpop Demon Hunters and its success?

It almost seems like all those videos and claims that Disney is jealous of that movie and are enemies with Sony Animation are completely full of shit.

And I thought Get Him to the Greek had the most cursed movie cast.
Does this mean that "Home On The Range" is even more cursed now?
Veteran actress Dame Judi Dench said she’s forgiven Harvey Weinstein after his rape conviction and argued that Kevin Spacey has been “exonerated” in a new interview.

That really sucks.

I think Sheen was most people’s favourite character in Jimmy Neutron and his voice was very distinct and funny.
RIP.
I'm really devastated to hear about Jeff Garcia's death at the age of 50. He really ended up bringing a lot of personality and laughs into Sheen in Jimmy Neutron and hearing about his death at that young an age is genuinely shocking to me. Really, really sad.

As much as I really don’t care about the Golden Globes, I think this is a fine selection of nominees. If the Oscar nominations for Animated Feature are these just take away Demon Slayer cause it’s highly unlikely they’ll pick that one, I’ll be happy. I haven’t seen Arco or Little Amelie yet, but-
Golden Globes Nominations — Best Animated Film

• Arco
• Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle
• KPOP Demon Hunters
• Little Amelie
• Elio
• Zootopia 2

Seriously?, I mean, it’s not like he didn’t like the movie or anything, he still gave it a very positive score.
I kinda find it incredibly ironic how people are actually pissed off at AniMat for not giving Zootopia 2, a Disney movie, the AniMat’s Seal of Approval after months and months of people labeling him as a “Disney shill”. The dude just can’t win with everyone.

Movies aren't content and they shouldn't be treated as digital coupons by a studio that they can wave around to people. They're works of art that deserve to belong in the cinema and also be put on home video collections to be cherished. That's what makes them special.

Terrible, the beginning of the end for movie theatres across the world.
Netflix teases that Warner Bros’ theatrical release windows will evolve to become shorter

“My pushback has been mostly in the fact of the long exclusive windows, which we don’t really think are that consumer friendly,” says Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.

I mean, at least it’s not the Ellisons. But still, another unnecessary merger;

Embarrassing to admit this, but back when the show came out in 2011 as a ten year old, I actually didn’t think he looked much like a cat either.

Great start! Surprisingly enough, I did not know that Blue Sky started out making commercials similar to what Pixar did in their beginnings. The two animation studios really took off in the 90s because of them. 💙

Had a nice Christmas lunch with my family that is a tradition for me that officially starts the Christmas season. Certainly better than last year when on the way back, our car had a puncture and we had to wait hours for it to be repaired before we could go home again.

I just tried Popeye the Sailor Man’s Chicken for the first time. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it was still pretty good. So my disappointment is not immeasurable and my day is not ruined.

Oh, yeah. Lost in Starlight is now officially dethroned from being my favourite animated film of the year!
I do have a few minor criticisms, but still overall a fantastic sequel that certainly proves that Disney can still make great stuff even after their rough few years recently.
Well, this is it, I’m finally gonna see if the hype is worth it for the first Disney animated film to get acclaim in years.
