I maintain that Giant Steps is not a great *first* record to hear by him for example. Or Ascension. So the records aren’t wrong, but the order was for me.

So many decent albums mentioned in this thread! LOL. I regret buying Derek Bailey's Lot-74 *first* because I had such a violently negative reaction to this particular LP that I didn't listen to anything else by him for years. See also the *wrong* albums by Sun Ra, Magma, Gong & John Coltrane.

Is there an objective, well-researched biography or profile of Zach Polanski out there? Just looked at the front page of Google and don't fancy either the Green Party's own biog or the BBC's (funnily enough). Does anyone have the (recent) straight, in-depth dope on him?

Sparks - Kimono My House album cover. Two women wearing komonos. One is winking and fanning her face, the other looks shocked and is holding both hands to her face.

I wish my criticism necessitated me going to live in Mexico. 😪

It's not like that. He's really a very nice guy. We do keep him in a cage in the office but only agree to let him out for 15 minutes (to spend some time with the large flock of geese that he dotes over, who treat him as some kind of God) when he agrees to be cruel to an indie musician.

"On the cover there's a Jackson Pollock painting, and I thought that was a perfect thing. It really seemed that Pollock was trying to reinvent what painting was, so Ornette was doing a similar thing in a musical sense."

I HAVE ALREADY USED THE YELLOW PAGES GAMBIT TODAY. THE DNA PROVIDER IN QUESTION CLAIMS THEY GET IT THIS TIME BUT I FULLY EXPECT TO GET IN FROM A QUICK STEP OUTSIDE TO HEADBUT THE WALL FIVE TIMES TO FIND THEM TYPING A SHOPPING LIST INTO THE SEARCH FIELD.

Shout out to any of my sisters and brothers out there worldwide who are now in their third decade of patiently trying to explain to a parent what Google is. The struggle is all too real and I am very close to my third crying jag of the 21st century.

I mean, yes. Fucking impervious choices. Coleman and Bitches Brew as well. Hardcore.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

I need to know more about why Ollie is holding a corn on the cob wistfully.
