I'm almost always trying to make the text flow better or reduce the number of words. Music writing in The Wire, Electronic Sound, The Quietus, LRB, elsewhere. slowmotion.blog

Jeez, astonishing and troubling/traumatic piece on the ethical minefield and dark circus of face transplants www.theguardian.com/science/2025...
Face transplants promised hope. Patients were put through the unthinkable
Twenty years after the first face transplant, patients are dying, data is missing, and the experimental procedure’s future hangs in the balance

This is pretty cool, three hours of Peter Hammill on the air talking through and playing some of his collaborations, guest recordings, and all manner of stuff.

very sad to hear of the death of Jimmy Cliff. We got down to the recent Harder They Come musical in Stratford a month or two back, and it was a pure joy. Beg, borrow or steal a ticket if if comes again.

If I ran breakfast TV, I would free up hours in the schedule by not reporting on tedious endurance expeditions where people row across the Indian Ocean, etc, and simply relegate them all to a five second spoken summary of who’s running where, like with political candidates

This is very lovely indeed.
Cosy and I decided to share some of the music that I’ve worked on over past few years on Soundcloud. Some were finished, some sketches, some on compilations / Bandcamp, some nowhere else. Letting go of music in this way to mentally clear the decks for whatever is next. m.soundcloud.com/andrewtuttle

The BFI email with the details of their very exciting looking Lynch series next year, apparently featuring a screening of “Fire Falk With Me”, and you know, just how good would THAT be

I've really enjoyed looking through this extensive archive of the great Muzik magazine from the 90s. Will take down if these belong to anyone important

Forgive me if deja posting, but when I interviewed Cranes, Alison said that she heard Liz humming while making a cup of tea, and it was the most beautiful sound in the world.

This sentimental old softie still associates this time of year with the album that utterly bewitched him at age 17, in 1988. I know every non-word.

Awesome new issue of @thewiremagazine.bsky.social, with amazing Francis Gooding interview going deep into the scales of Ethrio jazz, even wilder Griot Galaxy story, plus my review of @ucpress.bsky.social book by Theodore Gordon rethinking the synthesizer utopia

@andrewmale.bsky.social I really enjoyed a playlist/thread of yours ‘songs you can't ever feel miserable listening to’ some time ago. I think it was yours? Was thinking of that today, because this really is the apotheosis for me

Trying to think of a great drum ’n’ bass compilation, around 1996 or 97, which brought techstep together with an overt electronic/gothic/distorted vibe, just on the right side of industrial. It's not Hard Leaders’ Suspect Package. What could it be? I'm closing the 250-entry Discogs window, now.
