L’assassinio di Kirk ha innescato negli USA una demonizzazione della sinistra culminata nella designazione di Antifa - una posizione politica, non un gruppo strutturato - come organizzazione terroristica. Gli effetti sono già in Europa. Mio per @valigiablu.it

I’m looking for data on political violence in Europe. A Europol report suggests that left-wing terrorism is more prevalent, but I find the methodology questionable, since in the past attacks on 5G antennas, which are typically conspiracist, were counted as left-wing. Anyone have insights?

La copertura del Post sulla politica USA mi sembra assurdamente indulgente verso l'amministrazione Trump e minimizzante il pericolo. Chi ha seguito il live tweeting di @atrupar.com ha sentito molto più di banale propaganda, ma la richiesta di sottomissione dell'esercito alla volontà del presidente.

A neo-fascist publisher has just released Martin Sellner’s book on remigration in Italian, with a preface by Francesco Borgonovo, well-known journalist for the right-wing daily "La Verità" and frequent TV talk show guest. Last Thursday, Borgonovo even promoted Sellner’s book on air.

I think Charlie Kirk and TPUSA mainly reflected rather than shaped the broader right-wing movement in the U.S., as I also argued in this piece from last year, comparing his 2024 to his 2018 visit to the campus of my university.

2/ But Kirk was not doing politics “the right way,” just like none of those who incited the mob to storm the Capitol. One can condemn political assassination while at the same time condemning the ideas of the person who was unjustly targeted.

My main observation from the last few hours of monitoring US social media is that Democrats are universally denouncing political violence and calling for calm while MAGA are escalating language and openly lusting for retribution against broad categories of people they identity as their enemies.

Oltre all'orrore quotidiano dalle guerre, solo oggi ho visto - senza volerlo - il video di una povera ragazza ucraina accoltellata su un treno e il video dell'assassinio di Charlie Kirk, entrambi terrificanti. Siamo una società drogata di contenuti, incapace di un rapporto sano con le notizie.

Having seen video of many, many drone strikes in Ukraine, this definitely isn't a drone landing on a target. However, it's very consistent with a hovering drone dropping a payload of thermite, which is a tactic that the Ukrainians pioneered. bsky.app/profile/mili...
