The language aspect was emblematic of the ineptitude throughout. It was nationalist with moments of hopeful nods to a Clayton NDP. Which, I think would have still benefited from an environmentalist anti-imperialist voice. The rot is deep, and this is just one detail. They fail us all, any language.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you are correct that it was all done to exclude Yves. It seems like a very NDP thing to through the entire leadership candidacy under the bus in Quebec, to ensure that someone with a divergent world view did not participate.

Canada on a national level only ever talks about indigenous people when it is a bloody fight against the crown. Even when they are retrieving their dead ancestors, that the same institution abused and took from them. Parts of truth and reconciliation have made colonizing modernized and humanized.

Someone that is only imperialist towards non-NATO countries is certainly not on the left in any meaningful way. Canada, America, NATO and Russia were fanning the flames of war, before Trump took office in this latest term especially, but his first term as well.
A common accusation made of the left is that they’re in favour of every type of imperialism but the Anglo-American variety, but I’ve noticed this last caveat has weakened ever since a Russian ally took office in the Whitehouse.
