I think the generation of readers who grew up on Claremont making them allegorically gay have grown to be the writers making them more implicitly gay. But they could be far more gay.

AU is probably the best option. I grew up on media where nothing was really allowed to permanently change, so I always liked the stories where there were real consequences. I'm making a list of geekdoms I know well enough to do that with and I'll go from there. I think this will be good for me 😊

Yes! I absolutely agree. They're all a queer chosen family. Joey is a baby trans who "doesn't even have a name yet."

Also I think Crash Override and Acid Burn have a Neo/Trinity thing going on except instead of Trinity being Neo's realized self they are different aspects of the same person
