I'm sure Zohran is polite enough to listen but clear eyed enough to ignore the 44's advice. Obama is literally telling voters in NJ that Trump's fascism is just an attempt to "distract". This complaisance was somewhat excusable in 2016, but it's political malpractice in 2025.

This seeming paradox is a good thing. Dem voters recognize the need to up their party's game and will likely manifest their dissatisfaction and high expectations in primaries, while still opposing Trump every which way in the general. Favorable conditions for quality candidates to break through.

I'm glad Obama is campaigning for Dems, but why does he still insist on sugarcoating the threat of fascism in 2025? Trump's poop video was NOT meant "to distract" from kitchen table issues, it was to project absolute power and to humiliate in response to protests. It was fascist signaling. Say it!

But in the upside-down phantasmagoria of 2024 US politics, nothing Trump did counts, but Russia attacking Ukraine and Hamas attacking Israel were somehow Biden starting wars.
Meanwhile, Trump cheering Russian imperialism, and criticizing Biden for restraining Israel too much, somehow became antiwar.
