Individual psychotherapy doesn't have to locate the problem as individual in nature.

We must locate the problem and the solution in the collective!

Because **gestures at everything** I have changed my patient charting to include the client's outlook on a continuum from hopeful ---->nihilistic.

This seems like a very 2025 way to measure mental health to me.

Have told the teen on three separate occasions this week that his public school seems like an indoctrinating prison.

Am I a doomer?
Is this nihilism?

So bored of memes about type A gifted and talented kids who are neurotic now - what about the memes for my people, the type B kids who just sat in class drawing pictures of ghosts all day and are now depressed but in a goth way, not a sweatpants way

The teen reports they have been learning about dopamine at school this week. Sometimes it's like him and I grew up in different universes. Not just different countries. Not just different planets. So far apart.

I think I'm the only therapist in the world not offering supervision, and I'm okay with that.

The teen has asked me 3x in the last half hour "what's wrong with you mom?" And the answer is Mommy saw too many patients today. Mommy's Monday was too hard."

Letting to the fancy academic language of this podcast just wash over me. Like a baby listening to Mozart in the womb. Not my job to understand this fight between Judith Butler and Jessica Benjamin that happened fifteen years ago.
My job is to load the dishwasher and breathe.

So impressive and awesome.
The point is, folks in Burien got organized, got on the ground, knocked on 7000 (!) doors, and now we will have a progressive majority on council for I think the first time ever!?!? (Burien has only been incorporated for 32 years).

Big thanks to Vanessa from @workingfamilies.org for her leadership!

Yes this is how we do it.

I'm not going to forgive a person who thinks I don't deserve rights because I'm different from them. They have a moral failing and they can atone for that far away from me.

We're all going to write pieces about what you can learn from tonight but it's actually pretty simple: The frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.
