Had I my druthers, AOC would supplant our Salamander’n’Thief. Clearly military service is no longer requisite, but I submit that a few years waiting table ought to be. Character, intelligence, an aptitude for maths, and raw talent are what’s wanted. Love of golf is a 🚩

Lovely iron casting.
I’m told this was a “ Stink Pipe” a vent from the sewer. Seems highly decorated for such a lowly purpose? By the Stratford Canal. #Canals #StratfordUponAvon

Pynchon writes Rijeka (deadnaming it Fiume) as the crossroads of a collapsing culture…a port through which to flee if you have managed to conceal enough gold to pay the passage. Many found themselves chained at the water’s edge. Is it still a place to dance and drink yourself into oblivion?

Fare thee well and rest in peace
Robert A. M. Stern.
Architect.

Honor, and thanks.
Professor of mine in ‘79. Probably got my 2010 JSAH piece published (see bio). ‼️ ally in saving H H Richardson’s Percy Browne house in Marion MA, just this fall added to Preservation Mass’s 10 Most Endangered List.

Once I retire I’ll start referring to myself as an Architect with a majuscule “A”
(rather than with a lower case ‘a’ and an interrobang)

Vampyroteuthis Infernalis
comes into it. Into the “fondoozical cataclysm” of Shadow Ticket, I mean…from the resolute desk of Thomas Pynchon, wearing a pinched Borsalino, typing, wreathed in the reticulated fumes of an ambergris-scented ‘parmaceti candle and good Latakia. Running on. Lucid for now.

Guessing all Mamdani had to do was wear serious captor shoes and assure the Don that he is
The Quintesssential New Yorker. This might even be true. His only worthy rival? Fran Lebowitz.

To the #Nobel Prize for Literature curia, in re 2 Thomas Pynchon: it’s time you gave the man his medal. Roky Erickson’s no longer available, alas, but perhaps he’ll send Patti again.

Norman transcept ceiled in 19th century wood. There was some Inigo Jones there—a rood screen, once upon a time—but we didn’t find his fragments. #Winchester

Sound of the good rain on a good roof.
Alone in the Studiolo.
At peace with a silence that lets the rain bring its solace.

Prompts an abrupt internal admonition— “Get on with it.”
