Can’t believe I’ve come to this realisation but… Labor Governments - both Federal and State (Victoria) - have screwed us over both personally and in everything we care about more than the inept/Christo-fascist leaning LNP. No longer the sit-lite party, just shit. 😢

That’s an easy response but it is a lot more nuanced. 800m is a lot of these suburbs. Where 5-6 storey apartments have already gone up, all trees are removed. There is the issue of heat islands affect, loss of canopy. Existing infrastructure (sewage/sewerage) is not coping with massive development.

This will affect tree canopies and greenery, create heat islands, overshadow rooftop solar, and erode heritage streets and ‘villages.’
There is a lot of land already available for medium density housing under current planning that has not been developed.
This is not a ‘nimby’ concern.

The #Victoria Government have major planning changes within 800m of train/tram lines in #Melbourne. From 2 up to 6 storeys and no option to challenge at VCAT.

Oh wow, was that this morning? My dog was crazy barking and by the time I got outside a balloon was firing up to get over our roof. Landed a few hundred metres away at Murrumbeena Park. Scattered the cricketers and took out the fence but the passengers were OK.

Our corner block is on one street full of mature oak & plane trees. Lovely, green & shaded though masses of leaves. Raking leaves and small branches from drains on each curb of the corner to reduce flooding was getting to be ‘a lot.’ Called Glen Eira Council and they put it on regular street sweep.

I don’t consider myself a very successful gardener, though these bulbs beg to differ. A warm weekend in early Spring #Melbourne and has provided a burst of colour.

This is so insane. Public education needs a massive boost, not cuts. Almost all non-gov schools are religiously affiliated in some way- why are we outsourcing education to religious orgs? Education is compulsory- we should have pride in and strengthen our secular public schools, not undermine them.
