Followed a bunch of new people to freshen my feed and got some follow backs, so hello?

I post mostly tech, queer shit, books, food, random observations, and whatever I'm getting up to with @hon1nbo.hackingand.coffee.

Bully me and we'll both cry. I block liberally.
Alright, a conversation with a coworker has spawned this question.

Engineers, hackers, and cyber pros - what are the weirdest things that child-you never expected to be on your career bingo card?

Trying a new sushi place for the first time and the people at the bar next to us were trying to decide whether to have another piece or not. Their dinner partners started chanting "Do it! Do it! Do it!"

I had no idea as an adult there would be fish related peer pressure.

The feeling when your wife is out of town & you're focused on a project, snacking mindlessly, and then you look down & see powdered sugar all over your shirt & you realize...

W/o her you are a hacker cliche.

And also that mountain dew & cheese puffs sound really good right about now. #goblinmode

During tonight’s Trick-or-Treating, our 3-year-old got more and more excited.

“More houses! More candy!”

Until he suddenly looked to the sky and shouted (verbatim):

“Can I eat the moon!?”

Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t, little one. Be the cosmic horror you want to see in the world.

I finally understand why ppl reread/rewatch things. I never used to do that, I must be aging. Before, if I even started something & I didn't finish before I started to forget the plot it would basically be dead to me.

Rereading Eyes of the Dragon, which was my first Stephen King. It holds up!

It's been over a decade and yet muscle memory just caused me to type in my university email for some reason.
a man in a sweater is standing in a kitchen with a spray bottle and the word incorrect on his face .
Alt: Scene from schitt's creek. David Rose is standing in a kitchen with a spray bottle and the word incorrect on his face as he gestures animatedly to emphasize.

Sometimes I post musings and then go to my fyp & see horrible things going on in the world & feel like whatever I just posted is inane bullshit. It's crazy to have regular thoughts where the world burns, and it makes me feel guilty, like my little thoughts take away space from more important stuff.

I'm currently working on my first threat model and it's been interesting.

I've always been that person who is obsessively organized and takes a ton of notes bc ADHD, and something about this type of assessment is super zen and satisfying. Organizing and distilling data is so chill.

Hyperfocus this weekend is #Timberborn. You play as a colony of beavers in a post apocalyptic land. Its as chill as you are. You don't *have* to but you can def get caught up trying to min/max building design and layout. 8/10 it's early access so I'm excited to see how it grows.

ST just updated with more details, most importantly at this time CFD statement immediately challenges their narrative of this victim driving herself to the hospital. They claim she was found (and is in fair condition):

ICE / DHS shot a woman in Chicago because she has been working to identify the secret police behind the masks. According to the @chicago.suntimes.com story it sounds like federal agents used live rounds as the victim needed to be brought to the hospital.

Tips for soldering tiny, from a pro hardware hacker:

1. Plan ahead & double check! This is critical! Reworking mistakes on tiny circuits can be impossible.

Understand what needs soldered, your attack angle, how to protect any dangling leads, and watch out for adjacent pads and components.

Every animal in our house is conspiring against our peace today. One of our dogs woke us up at 6am and wouldn't let us go back to sleep. Someone give @hon1nbo.hackingand.coffee a treat bc our cat keeps being a goblin and they're doing an admirable job of not losing it.

When you're a hardware tester it's always a fun day at work when you need power tools and a fire extinguisher (just in case).

Surgery Thursday went ok. Hurts pretty bad, but I'm managing.

They put me on a "pain pump", which is a little catheter in your thigh with a fanny pack full of nerve block. Without it I'd probably be losing my mind.

I saw a few posts online about adding cheap nfc tags to your meds, and I've set tags up for my meds while I'm healing. I just bloop the NFC adhered to the bottle when I take the medicine and it logs it in a text file in my phone with tasker.
