The Reform UK leader of Staffordshire County Council has been removed from the party after being accused of making racist comments on social media.

It must be the law that Scotland have to play Brazil every time they get to the World Cup finals. I was in Bordeaux last time this happened.

I just bought oatcakes from the local convenience store. I have never seen this make before. They are small, a bit more pikelet sized.

Day 5

27.
5.15 The Angels Have Gone
from Heathen

Perhaps a song about regret or losing faith? The off beat drums & bass line draw you in & Bowie's voice seems to come from a vulnerable place. I suspect this won't be on lots of lists, coming from a much under-rated album, imo.

Aussies are taking the Mick.
England just dreadful.
Nothing further to say.

The Etzebeth ban isn't long enough, imo, and, while he was playing for the Springboks, it harms his club, not his country, as South Africa don't play again for months. The disciplinary committee considered Etzebeth's act 'intentional'

Eben Etzebeth: South Africa lock handed 12-week ban for 'intentional' eye gouge on Alex Mann vs Wales
South Africa and Sharks lock Eben Etzebeth suspended for 12 weeks for what independent disciplinary committee deem intentional eye gouge of Wales Alex Mann; Committee deemed act worthy of 18-week ban...

Joe the Lion
from Heroes

Frenetic, mad stuff, imo, plus Fripp's incredible guitar work. Apparently, rather than musical ideas, Bowie would say to him 'think of X,Y, or Z, and he'd interpret that!

Trentham bod. I spend a lot of time having meetings here.
Mind you, the coffee is among the best in the area.
Meetings tend to be in the morning, so no Titanic fine ale passes my lips.

The Cllr Cooper social media issues have now hit the mainstream. Reform embarrassing Staffordshire again, he surely must resign

The ridiculous Tommy Robinson uses social media to ask Gary Lineker what he's up to with a young woman.
The response from Lineker was brilliant "If you must know, I was going to a chemist with my daughter-in-law, to get some medicine for her unwell husband….my son."

All the Madmen
from The Man Who Sold the World

A lyric that is hard to beat -
"And I'd rather play here
With all the madmen
For I'm quite content they're all as sane as me"

Both Northwood Stadium and Sandbach Rugby Club have announced plans for #padel courts.
Growing up in the 1970s we had the Squash boom. Now it's padel tennis, it looks like a great game but will the boom keep going?

Excellent World Cup 2027 pool draw for England - Wales, Tonga, Zimbabwe. They are also on the opposite side of the draw than South Africa which means they may avoid the world champions until possibly the final (if either side get that far) and avoid New Zealand and France until the semis.

Always remember Smith as being hard as nails as a batsman, standing up to hostile bowling, especially against the fearsome West Indies pace attack. Sadly, despite his tough persona at the wicket, it seems he suffered mental health issues in normal life.

I have just been to the Bluebird Cafe, Kingsway, Stoke, for the first time. I am happy to recommend it, a really nice, comfortable space, and the coffee is excellent. It doubles as a cocktail bar in the evenings, and the drinks menu looks special!
