Just here to make friends and have fun! Oh, and to stare into the void.

Mostly my garden and project journal, tbh.
Our backyard squirrels are practically spherical so I guess the garden has done a good job.

Gotten to the point in #cooking where I’m shaking unmeasured amounts of dried leaves from unlabeled bottles into the soup like one of the witches from Macbeth.

Turkey wild rice soup is good, but Birnam Wood still comes to Dunsinane.

My 5 Rules of Craft Projects

1. No more than 2 projects of any type at a time (sewing, painting, etc)
2. It is okay to set something aside because of an impasse, but it remains one of the two projects if I’m just bored of it.
3. Do not buy supplies UNLESS I’m genuinely ready to do the project

Looking at the news and… you know, I think I’ll crochet the dog another sweater.

Yarn from Meijer and using a G hook this time to make it a little tighter.

I would say this is the garden pumpkin‘s final form but I still have lots of roast pumpkin in the freezer! This thread will just go on infinitely.

As you’re preparing for your Thanksgiving meal, remember the skilled work it took to get that food to your grocery store.

Tell us your favorite Thanksgiving dish, and we can share some of what we know about the work behind the ingredients.

Excuse the lint and wrinkles, but the stitching on my #krampus and St. Nicholas dirndl apron is done!

Since I’m not going to Krampusnatcht this year, I’m going to put it away and leisurely decide how I want to shape and decorate the rest of the apron.

Mildly interesting: normally when I’ve used waste canvas, I’ve just pulled it out as is, but now i could not get the fibers out…

Fortunately, I remembered that you can soak the finishing off! Much easier, but then I had a lapful of soggy St Nicholas. I guess I could have waited for it to dry…

Fully stitched!

This St Nicholas is another of my patterns and he’s built to the same scales as the Krampus, so they’re mirrors of each other.

Working on St Nicholas… I probably won’t go to Krampusnatcht this year (timing just not working out), so I don’t really have a deadline for this.

TBH, I’m finding this one a little dull to stitch, but I’ve vowed to never have more than two projects at a time of the same type, so pushing through.

Got a question about this. The white background is something called “waste canvas” which is grid of thick white threads that mimics cross stitch fabric. It’s meant to be completely removable when you’re done stitching.

Wow! 7 months ago, eh? Tonight I finally picked out the waste canvas on this #krampus which took forever. I mean, less than 7 months, obviously.

Now to start St Nicholas on the other side.

Hurray! I finished the #crochet dog sweater! I had to frog and restart so many times.

Turns out the dog has knobby shoulders, a narrow chest, and a concave stomach so I had to go wildly off book and reduce the waist size and add waist ribbing. But he likes it on this cold day!

Rushing to put the garden to bed in this burst of temperate weather.

Using a fb reels technique (I know! I’ve become a crone), where you lay out bulbs in groups and bury them in the same hole. Most of this dirt is stuff I dumped out of pots!

A preliminary try-on of the crocheted dog sweater. He’s halfway between the S and M size, so I’m going off book a little.

looking good so far!

Definitely need another project to keep from doomscrolling so I am going to attempt this dog sweater!

I’m not very good at crochet (I forget what I’m doing all the time) but the dog isn‘t all that particular and it’s soothing to know I can just unravel any mistakes.

I saw Margaret Atwood with on Saturday and I wanted to write down some of the brilliant things that she said.

First of all, there was a slide of her holding a coffee cup that said “I told you so.”
