Just here to make friends and have fun! Oh, and to stare into the void.

Mostly my garden and project journal, tbh.
Gotten to the point in #cooking where I’m shaking unmeasured amounts of dried leaves from unlabeled bottles into the soup like one of the witches from Macbeth.

Turkey wild rice soup is good, but Birnam Wood still comes to Dunsinane.

I finished the second dog sweater last night and Titus seems to really like it.

I learned a lot from the last one. This is all single #crochet to hopefully make it warmer and more durable with a smaller hook.

He immediately hopped into the snow.

Looking at the news and… you know, I think I’ll crochet the dog another sweater.

Yarn from Meijer and using a G hook this time to make it a little tighter.

Alright, the Little Drummer Boy Challenge, Whamageddon, and Mariahpocalypse starts today.

As always, I play to lose.

I would say this is the garden pumpkin‘s final form but I still have lots of roast pumpkin in the freezer! This thread will just go on infinitely.

From seed to #Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie! 🥧

Excuse the lint and wrinkles, but the stitching on my #krampus and St. Nicholas dirndl apron is done!

Since I’m not going to Krampusnatcht this year, I’m going to put it away and leisurely decide how I want to shape and decorate the rest of the apron.

lolm this thread might go on forever. Pumpkins have become quite tasty purée (with some sweet potato)

The NYTimes also opted to go with this tidbit on FB today which seems likely to inspire bigoted opinions in several areas.

Mildly interesting: normally when I’ve used waste canvas, I’ve just pulled it out as is, but now i could not get the fibers out…

Fortunately, I remembered that you can soak the finishing off! Much easier, but then I had a lapful of soggy St Nicholas. I guess I could have waited for it to dry…

Fully stitched!

This St Nicholas is another of my patterns and he’s built to the same scales as the Krampus, so they’re mirrors of each other.

Working on St Nicholas… I probably won’t go to Krampusnatcht this year (timing just not working out), so I don’t really have a deadline for this.

TBH, I’m finding this one a little dull to stitch, but I’ve vowed to never have more than two projects at a time of the same type, so pushing through.

Got a question about this. The white background is something called “waste canvas” which is grid of thick white threads that mimics cross stitch fabric. It’s meant to be completely removable when you’re done stitching.

Wow! 7 months ago, eh? Tonight I finally picked out the waste canvas on this #krampus which took forever. I mean, less than 7 months, obviously.

Now to start St Nicholas on the other side.

Hurray! I finished the #crochet dog sweater! I had to frog and restart so many times.

Turns out the dog has knobby shoulders, a narrow chest, and a concave stomach so I had to go wildly off book and reduce the waist size and add waist ribbing. But he likes it on this cold day!

I feel like spending Friday night hanging out on my sofa and crocheting a dog sweater while listening to Sarah Marshall’s Satanic Panic podcast is the most millennial thing I’ve ever done.

Mostly out of curiosity, we cut up and roasted the pumpkins I grew and they’re delicious! Freezer full of pumpkin now.

Tulip bulbs were quite expensive this year due to tariffs or inflation or tarifflation, so the best value I found were these guys on clearance from Menards at $2.80 a bag.

Cheap pack of narcissus from Costco from waaay earlier in the fall

Rushing to put the garden to bed in this burst of temperate weather.

Using a fb reels technique (I know! I’ve become a crone), where you lay out bulbs in groups and bury them in the same hole. Most of this dirt is stuff I dumped out of pots!

Gross. I grudgingly cleared the tomato vines away.

I had no idea previously frozen green tomatoes are the texture of water balloons wrapped in tissue paper.

A preliminary try-on of the crocheted dog sweater. He’s halfway between the S and M size, so I’m going off book a little.

looking good so far!

Working on the collar. Looks pretty good so far and I’ve only needed to watch 3 YouTube videos (admittedly a couple of times)

A chunky knit, but we sometimes call the dog “Missouri Slim” so I have confidence he’ll pull it off.
