I think now that I have "regained" 1/3 of my old twitter following here I can put some roots down with a pinned post. And it has to be the one I had on twitter since about 2010:

The collective noun for balloons should be "congratulation." A congratulation of balloons.
I love to be contrarian but truly the only category I don't think they should've won is Game Direction
‘CLAIR OBSCUR - EXPEDITION 33’ has won 9 awards at #TheGameAwards, the most for any game ever

• Game of the Year
• Best RPG
• Best Narrative
• Best Art Direction
• Best Score & Music
• Best Game Direction
• Best Debut Indie Game
• Best Independent Game
• Best Performance (Jennifer English)

The rondo I'm on hold with (out of Mozart K333) keeps being interrupted by the same message, offering for analysts a new type of refrain, and offering for me a new type of headache

room temperature take - the "play an excerpt of classical music on top of pop/hip-hop" trend has yet to produce anything musically interesting or fun. Aligning tempo is all that's happening here, not even phrase to verse. I have a hotter take on this trend but not for here

Does anyone else, when left entirely to their own devices, fall into a siesta pattern of working? I am only recently not fighting this anymore, though I am increasingly not left to my own devices either

I just started watching it for the first time but did the movie Demolition Man best predict our modern technology? they’ve got self-driving cars, zoom meetings, and ChatGPT so far

Not even looking for something action-packed in Pluribus just like "what are these other characters up to as a way to explore this humanistic dilemma" would be nice by episode 6!? Am I nuts because everyone is in love with this show and it's been a struggle

Are we all thinking the same thing
Pantone’s 2026 color of the year is technically not a color at all — meet Cloud Dancer, the first-ever white shade to receive the designation from the world’s color authority.
Pantone makes a surprising choice for its 2026 color of the year
We did not see that coming.

As a student I was skeptical of nonchalant slightly disorganised overly kind professors... and I turned exactly into that.

FSU is pretty different from Berkeley. But we are adding two new types of music major; we have a record number of theory I sections this semester; we are hiring two *music theorists* and only one is a replacement for a retirement...
"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe
"The humanities really are a resource — a confidence for living in our times.” Dean Sara Guyer on the modern utility of humanities degrees

Now that it's been a few days, and with your forgiveness that I'm supporting the NYT (extremely cheaply, I'll say), I'm here to be mad about Nov. 10th's Connections game on behalf of anyone with any audio tech background.

IT REALLY DOESN'T and I'm tired of people saying LLM output is anything but some words put together following certain syntactical and grammatical norms into sentences strung together following the faintest threads of content logic that unravel as quickly as the next thought ravels. Embarrassing
This.
I’m always kind of surprised when people say it writes well
not many people are good at words, as the chatGPT era is ironically really hammering home right now
