I kept running into the same creative wall and finally stopped to ask why. It turns out chasing originality looks a lot like perfectionism. What do you think?

New post up: thoughts.himitcho.com/chasing-orig...
Chasing Originality Is Like Chasing Perfection
The wall isn’t an obstacle so much as a signal. It’s telling me it’s time to reframe my intentions.

They’re all posting their statements on the child porn platform? That’s a wild choice.

I’ve been writing more as a way to explore ideas and think with focus instead of just carrying them around in my head. My latest post is on noticing patterns in how I think and designing systems that cooperate with them.

I’d love to hear what you think, too.

Making Peace With How I Think
I stopped trying to fix how I think and started paying attention instead.

there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

The need to create has been so strong lately that a basic flyer becomes a full design odyssey.

Hot take: ice cream tastes better when it's cold out.

Context: it's 11° F (-12° C) and I just enjoyed a waffle cone.

I took my time.

I, for one, support he discontinuation of Calibri, not because it’s woke, but because it’s ugly AF

Damn, this keynote I just finished designing is frankly inappropriate in how hard it goes.

No templates here… 😮‍💨

To people who live in NYC: does the beauty ever stop hitting?

Because while visiting I gasped every time that the Manhattan skyline popped into view and said “omg what a cute street” SO many times while walking through Brooklyn.

Do you still feel it or does your nervous system eventually adapt?

Wait—Canva acquired Affinity Designer and just made it free?

Great news for creatives, especially hobbyists. Adobe’s price structure and contracts are straight up predatory.

I love how apps refresh your timeline if you leave for like 8 seconds. Sometimes I’m just looking something up or writing down a note. Come back and the app is like “Fuck you, that post is gone forever. Good luck trying to find it again”

I just finished designing the swag for our hackathon at work. I love experimenting and generating ideas, but deadlines transform that into stress, procrastination, and hyperfocus, all on a loop.

It becomes the race to good enough, and a gentle reminder of why I didn’t make design a career.
