If you're looking for some well-priced Xmas bottles, try The Critic wine club with Yapp Bros. I've picked some very tasty chardonnay, fizz and probably the best cotes du rhone out there www.yapp.co.uk/the-critic-w...

Something I didn't realise when I visited Hungary was the strong links between Tokay wine and Poland. There was even a special wine for the Polish market which is as easy to pronounce as you would expect. thecritic.co.uk/issues/novem...

"Not expensive for wines of this quality. While modern wines will last...vintage port is accessible at a younger age these days. Croft 2016 was already showing well."

Two important points--Port is underpriced at the upper level. And much more accessible lately.

My favourite thing about the (rather disappointing) new Frankenstein film is how the doctor looks increasingly like Marty Feldman once he's created the monster. Clearly a nod to Mel Brooks' infinitely superior version of the story.

"In my early days of drinking, back in the 1990s, often the only way of knowing if a pub was posh was the clientele. The pub itself looked exactly the same as the other ones, except all the punters were wearing Hunter wellies." Some great nostalgia in Will's latest.
