Roberts was always a dick though. Remember the 12yo girl handcuffed and arrested for eating a single french fry on the metro? (He upheld while a DC circuit judge)
The part that I can't figure out is what John Roberts thinks he is doing. He used to seem to be a judge who was very attentive to appearances, I think on a theory that you can't draw too much attention to yourself without undermining your ability to continue to shape the law.
Every legal story now is either

Pet peeve: not understanding what it means to say "the premise of your question is not well founded."
BERMAN: Would it be legal for police in Arkansas to kill suspected drug dealers on a boat in a lake?

TOM COTTON: The premise of your question is not well-founded

BERMAN: The answer is no. It would not be legal to kill them.

It rarely gets commented on, but Trump's constant, unprompted, never-ending slander of Biden and Obama, in response to basically any topic, is so gross.

"At some point, I had made more money that I could ever spend and I realized it was time to start a new chapter in my life and I knew with all this money came an enormous platform and I could use that to promote bigotry."

"Personally, I've integrated poking my eye with a stick into my daily workflow."
"Is it worth it? The eye pain, the blindness?"
"Umm.. I guess no, not really. 😥"
Everyone around me irl keep dropping in the fact that they use AI in every day life and work and it makes me feel like I’m going crazy especially when I push back and ask if it’s worth the consequences and the response is always, in the end, no 🫠 And yet this is just the average person now!

There's a throughline from Nuzzi's behavior to shit like kids having measles and her "newfound clarity" hasn't grappled with that in the slightest.
@timmiller.bsky.social: "He's being nominated to HHS Secretary…You had information that you could have shared…and you didn't share anything about him. Why? Did you still love him?"

It's worse, we'd have health influencers and RFK pushing lead paint and asbestos as a miracle cure.
it is MIRACULOUS that we got rid of lead paint and asbestos when we did. if we had tried that today, there would be people whining about how we're restricting their rights.
Bring back residential-use lead paint, you cowards.

I propose the following test for news programs, inspired by the bechdel test:
A segment where people are discussing the pros and cons of any given policy, without reference to polling, its impact on the political parties, or elections.

Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

Most cowardly Secretary of Defense in US history. "I, umm, left the room right before the, umm, stuff went down. Things to do, you know."
Hegseth: I watch that first strike live. At the Department of War, we got a lot of things to do so I did not stick around. Couple of hours later, I learned that commander had made -- which he had the complete authority to do, he made the correct decision to sink the boat and eliminated the threat.
