'What we have lost, and what we desperately need to reclaim, is a different mode of cognition, a historical sensibility....t is a temperament that is comfortable with uncertainty, sensitive to context and aware of the powerful, often unpredictable rhythms of the past.'
The Lost Art Of Thinking Historically | NOEMA
To understand the world today, we must see it as actors of the past did: through a foggy windshield, not a rearview mirror, facing a future of radical uncertainty.

The new Lindsay Ellis video is a must watch if you're shocked and tired about the evolving state of the world and the indifference of those in power to do anything about it. It is a long hard look at how the stage is set to ensure suffering continues unchallenged.

Hundreds of former Afghan commandos & their families were refused relocation by a UK Special Forces officer with possible links to a war crimes enquiry where they could’ve been witnesses.

At least five were later murdered by the Taliban.

The MoD then lied about this to Parliament & the courts.
One Special Forces officer blocked 1,585 Afghans from settling in UK
Documents shown to court by MoD show the officer rejected every application referred to him in the summer of 2023.

This. Protect trans kids. Protect trans rights. Gender is a spectrum. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary people exist. Inter-sex & DSD people exist. Gender-non-conforming people exist. Transphobia is anti-feminist. Laws are often wrong and unjust. We must fight for a fairer future.

if you are a cis person it costs you nothing to just say today that you see & hear your trans sisters & brothers & others over in the UK today -- and around the world, too, knowing that rulings like today's ripple out in ugly ways.

When we launched the Virtual Museum of the Spanish Civil War, it had 130 objects in five galleries with texts in Spanish and English. Now it has 480 objects in 11 galleries. All texts are in French as well, and some galleries are in Basque, Catalan, and Galician.
