Academics need to quit publishing with these commercial behemoths (Wiley, Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Routledge, etc) and support university nonprofit presses instead.
"academic publishing is dominated by profit-oriented, multinational companies for whom scientific knowledge is a commodity to be sold back to the academic community who created it... The dominant four collectively generated... $12 billion in profits between 2019 and 2024."

The original version of Taylor Swift’s ‘Style’ was about the superiority of the Chicago Manual of Style for notes and referencing, but eventually she was convinced that this was not commercial enough. When the Manual reaches its 20th edition, she may release ‘Style (Chicago version)’ to celebrate.

Really enjoyed a visit to München Literaturhaus’ exhibition on Susan Sontag today, which included her Hermes jacket and a lot of personal writings, and a beautiful series of photographs of the interior of her NY apartment. But not a single mention of Annie Leibowitz?

I'm seeing some great data so far! Keep 'em coming, and safe travels to all!
Air Canada has not met workers' demands so they're on strike. This means I won't arrive into Vancouver until 36 hours after I'd hoped, missing out on a trip to UBC-Vancouver special collections. Still, there are worse places to be stuck than my best friend's place in Darwin with its perfect sunsets!
