A comic page from Last Dance, in which two ballerinas, a blonde white woman in a blue gray dress and a black man in a dark shirt, dance a pas de deux (a ballet duet). The final panel has a man off screen saying “Watch your angles” A work in progress page from Finish Lines. The first panel shows a girl and her grandfather in a canoe, both yawning. Panels 2-4 feature the tree limb they don’t see until it’s too late and their canoe is about to hit it. The grandfather yells “Holy shit!” as they attempt to dodge the limb. The final panel shows them falling out of the canoe as it hits the submerged tree with a massive “CRACK” sound effect in the background. Héctor stumbles, clutching their stomach. They pull away their hands and see they are bleeding from their groin, having miscarried their child. Héctor falls over, tumbling down the sand dune. The page features these lyrics: Y cae la lluvia triste para mirarte Detrás de cada gota te mira un ángel Two dwarven wardens explore the deep roads in a nightmare realm. Panel 1. HEY PUBLISHERS: pay attention to this entire thread; and recognize that a HUGE part of the problem is assigning comics projects to editors with no comics knowledge or experience. Editing comics is a discrete discipline, and when you don't recognize that, you fuck both creators and yourself over.

"placeholder text" "concept art" either the temporary thing you put in matters to the process, in which case you need to get a human to work on it, or it doesn't, in which case you can just as easily put a bright pink rectangle that says PLACEHOLDER in and save everyone time and effort

Concept art is such a major thing to be using AI for & sets terrible precedent. Using it for placeholder text when lorem ipsum exists is just telling on yourself that you intend to “forget” to fix it

Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.
