Tonight I joined volunteers of Open Kitchen to say a big thank you to them for 2,000 consecutive days of providing food for those most in need in south Manchester.

I also presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the House of Commons.

🚨Under the Government's counter-fraud scheme, anyone who wrongly claimed pandemic support funds now has the chance to voluntarily return the money before the end of the year or face penalties.

⚽️ Then new sports facilities including a field and a Multi-Use Games Area will be constructed when the old school is demolished.

This £14m investment in Denton’s children is very welcome and one I’m extremely proud of!

There’s a public consultation at the school on 13th October 2.30-7pm

The draft plans have been drawn up and the new building will be two stories high and built on what should’ve been the school playing field. The current school will remain operational while the new one is built

With the change of Government I had to make sure Russell Scott stayed in the programme, which it has, and now Tilbury Douglas has been awarded the contract to build, with the DfE directly overseeing the project (not Tameside Council). 🧱🪚

💬 I raised the school’s plight several times in Parliament, had meetings with Education Secretaries and Ministers - lots of tea and sympathy - but it wasn’t until I met Baroness Barran that someone “got it” and Russell Scott was placed on the Government’s School rebuilding programme!
