I fear Newsom’s going to need to consolidate his security assets eventually anyway, as will all governors in Trump’s sites. This could have the effect of cleaving off municipal departments from supporting illegal federal actions. No guarantees, but if DOJ Kavanaugh-stops voters, midterms are toast.

That said, I want Newsom to deploy state troopers to the polling places to guarantee our right to vote. Federal intimidation and arrest of voters casting their ballots on Election Day is the reddest of lines.
