Josh’s blog is such a pleasure to read, and I love that his list includes a bunch of stuff I’ve never heard, in addition to stuff I already like. I strongly recommend reading it even though it includes Goose.
I wrote about more music than ever this year at No Expectations, so I compiled what I think are the 100 Best Albums of 2025. If you don't recognize a lot of the names here, don't worry. That's the point. I hope you find something new to dig. www.noexpectations.fyi/p/the-100-be...

…According to some guy in Chicago. Plus, every album and more I recommended in No Expectations this year.

Cup by Yoko Ono, commemorating the death of John Lennon, 1980. From her Illy Collection series of broken and mended cups. Kintsugi — repairing the broken while acknowledging the loss.

I drink from this series often — and especially on this day.

I got through listening to everything on @aquariumdrunkard.com’s midyear list like a month ago.

Anyway, digging into this. See you in like April.

But even that irrelevant because, and I can’t stress this enough, smuggling a product that people choose of their own volition to buy — even one with harmful health effects — is not a capital offense. Interdict, seize, dump, imprison. You cannot just kill. Full stop. End of story.

If you’re into improvised rock music, you have to hear this all-improvised album, which is as good as anything you’ll hear from any stateside jamband. Takes as much inspiration from 70s King Crimson’s jamming (they even play mellotron!) as from Phish/Dead.

It’s not his sign. It belongs to me and @johnnyemdee.bsky.social and the two friends we made it with, and we are in talks with lawyers about how to finally have it returned.

That said, happy Jennifer Danceiversary to all those who saltebrate.

2025 was the best year for the label yet. Here's a compilation of my favorite tracks.

The comp is free but if you want to put some bucks on it they all go to Maine Needs, who are doing a great job helping the folks in my immediate area who need it

The thing about tonight’s special election is that there’s still almost a year for things to get worse for the GOP, because I certainly don’t think they’re gonna get better

I may be very wrong about this, but between it being
- 3 weekends
- a lot more expensive
- shows that basically everyone has to travel to

I can see Sphere tickets being a loooooot easier this time.

Update: the AI Jerry post that included a pic of (the famously sober) Trey with a beer in his hand is no more.

I will say I have very mixed feelings about helping to unleash an angry mob on someone, but also that post sucked and I’m glad he took it down.
it appears he finally took that post down but left others including the one where he AI'd himself in a pic with Phil. continues to be eww gross

I try not to be a pearl clutcher about anything but especially about sobriety because I am not looking to gatekeep anything in any way or police anyone's behavior.

But I will tell you that if someone used AI to make a picture of me drinking or using drugs that it would be very upsetting.

Something tells me that “pedophilia is fine if you round up” is not going to win over the masses.
Dershowitz: The predecessor on your show described Epstein as a convicted pedophile. He pleaded guilty to one count of having sex for money with a 17-year-and-10-month-old person. That’s not a pedophile.

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

In 2018 people started talking about a "techlash" against Silicon Valley. The word kind of disappeared, but the anger is only increasing, especially now with AI being shoved down everyone's throats.

This could become a real political movement.

Josh’s post is worth reading in its entirety. The points:

1) kill the filibuster
2) court reform
3) DC/PR statehood
4) clean up laws on presidential power
5) outlaw extreme gerrymandering

These strike me as a really good starting point of foundational necessities.
