Young Republicans local chapters have been deeply involved in promoting & organizing around anti-public education, anti-LGBTQ+ efforts locally and have heavily contributed to ground game & canvassing efforts for extremist local candidates, anti-trans ballot props, and recently anti Prop 50 efforts.

Local groups like ours have spent years tracking how Young Republican chapters, with training from Leadership Institute, have been central to the hard right shift and culture war focus of the GOP party in CA— from gun range days to coordinated harassment campaigns to riots at school board meetings.

Every word of this. We’ve watched our local Young Republican chapter take lead on local organizing, canvassing for candidates & ballot initiatives & working to elect an even more radical slate for GOP central committee. They benefit from institutional funding while organizing w Proud Boys & worse.

The local reactionary failed at replacing district curriculum w/FAIR propaganda but expanded efforts to target increasingly broad groups & programs, joining with religious extremists, proud boys, & other radical groups to form Leave Our Kids Alone, & causing chaos in school districts across SoCal.

Back in 2021 an ambitious reactionary used FAIR’s “alternative to ethnic studies” approach to attack & discredit already approved/ adopted social studies curricular standards. Unclear how FAIR was previously structured but it appears it only gained non profit status in 2023, w revenue over $1million

FAIR (stands for Foundation Against Intolerance and Racisim) was staffed by a predictable mix of “anti-woke” and “heterodox” folks, many of whom moved over to the “university of Austin” when FAIR failed to gain steam. The org still exists, attempting to both sides the culture war they manufacture.

Agreed. The piece did leave out another of Weiss’s propaganda efforts- FAIR, also funded by Nazi memorabilia collector billionaire Harlan Crowe. When a radicalized anti-public school/anti-lgbtq+ operative first showed up to rant at our school board meetings, he stated he was a rep of FAIR.

The Oct. 18th "No Kings Day of Peaceful Action" has now surpassed 2,500 community events across all 50 states, per No Kings organizers.

All of these events were "organized by average Americans across personal, political, and geographic demographics."

Great news to start the week- @governor.ca.gov has signed AB495 which provides essential protections to families who may face forced separation. Notably, organized right groups, inc. politicized mega churches, mounted major opposition to the bill w/ national groups amplifying/funding those efforts.

We are hearing that almost all of the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) has been let go. This is devastating news for both the employees, who are being treated as nothing more than political pawns, and for K–12 education in this country—both deserve better.
