Instead, she retreated to her chambers for a nap, but
only let sleep take her after touching herself to thoughts
of the beast she now called husband. She recalled the
look of pain in his eyes after catching sight of her
bruises, and how it melted away under his smoldering,
passionate gaze. The way his tongue would offer her
words of reassurance and safety, before tasting her skin
and insides. And the tender kisses on her fingers from
such massive jaws that panted and growled at her
trembling form.
These were the memories that deserved space in her
mind—the ones she desperately clung to. She begged for
them to bury her as she stroked. To bury all the pain that
haunted her body and mind.
