BREAKING

The U.S. Supreme Court is allowing the GOP gerrymandered Texas congressional map to stand in a 6-3 decision, with Kagan, Sotomayor, and Brown-Jackson dissenting.

@maddow.bsky.social has a great book about this... "Drift".
Congress, in my opinion has ceded too much of its authority to the Executive Branch in the last nearly quarter of a century. What the administration has been doing is simply part the Post 9/11 legacy. It’s got to stop. I say this as a GWOT era veteran.
Credit to Rand Paul. He hated extrajudicial drone strike killings under Obama and he HATES them under Trump where Congress has given no authorization.

As someone who is studying nostalgia as part of my PhD... ultimately its this.

This normalizes corruption, feeding the sentiment that both sides suck and so politics is pointless. A Dem party focused on rehabilitating its broken brand would be criticizing Trump and booting out Cuellar. Let the corrupt guys become corporate lobbyists - they’re dragging our party down.
Jeffries claims the charges against Cueller were "very thin" and says Trump's pardon was "exactly the right outcome"

It's like that Seinfeld episode where George pretends he wasn't fired by just showing up the next day except it's real life and these jobs matter.
Breaking News: A federal court said that Alina Habba, a Trump-appointed lawyer, had been serving unlawfully as the U.S. attorney in New Jersey. She was neither confirmed by the Senate nor appointed by district trial court judges — the two traditional pathways.
Appeals Court Says Alina Habba, Former Trump Lawyer, Is Serving Unlawfully as U.S. Attorney
The judges wrote that the Trump Administration appeared to have become frustrated by legal and political barriers that have prevented its preferred U.S. attorneys from leading federal prosecutors’ offices.

this is also the underlying belief system behind AI.
conservatives basically want to implement the caricature of affirmative action for conservative students. acceptance without meeting qualifications, good grades and degrees without having to do the work.

I can't believe this fucking team man

My students refer to any music they find boring, cliche, etc as "AI music". Artists are definitely winning the cultural battle.
Which I think is a good sign they are really losing the cultural battle.
Also that last part is absolutely not true. Every artist hates a bunch of people sometimes including close friends of theirs.

You can choose to be exploratory about art. Letting algorithms dictate what you read, watch and listen to isn't inevitable, it's just *easy*.

I'm begging the Democratic party to have the same liberal idealism and ethical standards as *checks notes* Jamie Dimon.
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

I think "An Unmistakable Pattern of Hostility" might become the title of the piece I've been working on.

“.. Press freedom groups have condemned his verbal escalations, calling his rhetoric an "unmistakable pattern of hostility."

OpenAI has since made the chatbot safer, but that comes with a tradeoff: less usage.
