Utterly sickening. As an off-and-on balletomane, I was so happy to be blessed with Lauren Anderson as a Principal of the Houston Ballet when I had season tickets. I didn't get to see her nearly enough. What a delight! (Yes, that means the Li Cunxin era. It was fucking fabulous.)
“The decision was made to exclude me from the filmed production of Swan Lake because I was told my brown skin would disrupt the aesthetic.” ~ Misty Copeland

When folks gripe about DEI, remind them who benefited from shutting out dancers like Copeland. That pattern runs through our whole history.

I was listening to an @npr.org story about the Trump admin and the uncertain future of Special Ed. One major factor they didn't bring up but should have is this:
Feds say Texas illegally failed to educate students with disabilities
A U.S. Department of Education investigation concluded Thursday that Texas violated federal law by failing to ensure students with disabilities were properly evaluated and provided with an adequate pu...

Yes. We saw this in Fort Bend County when County Judge KP George was indicted. He switched from D to R. It's the party preferred by criminals and others of low moral character, for obvious reasons.
Will Cuellar switch parties? 🤔
Cuellar won re-election in 2022 by 13 points.

In 2024, he won re-election by 5.6 points.

Trump won his district in 2024 by 7 points.

Sigh. The story about my niece is true. The police were called. It was BAD. She's a strong, successful professional now and happily married to an equally impressive woman.

@mjeffreson.bsky.social I took my eldest niece to all three days of ACL fest with her girlfriend when she graduated from HS. Hope that pisses you off too because it certainly pissed off my homophobic SIL who tried to strangle her when she came out. 💗

Oh, great. All law schools would be unaccredited or they'd give us some MAGA, corrupt, bullshit scheme. Jfc. They really do hate everything about our country, don't they?
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission called the American Bar Association’s accreditation of law schools a “monopoly” that increases the cost of a law degree and limits the supply of new lawyers reut.rs/3Xsz3Iz

@lachategris.bsky.social Saw your reskeet of the RNS story about Catholic schools. I went to a Methodist-affiliated undergrad and you bet we had a Church Careers department! That was really the only way to tell, though. But we couldn't drink on campus (if anyone was watching).

So Trump and the US Government want to "cleanse" Minnesota of persons of Somali descent? What do you call that, I wonder?

My opinion from being around many of them? They truly believe they are better than other women and want to teach us a lesson. They want to hurt other women. It's a power thing.
And yet there are so many MAGA women 🤷‍♂️
And I can’t understand it

Thinking about my now-retired Army judge law school dear friend (and more). Pete Hegseth calls JAGs pussies, but my buddy went to jump school and Pete most certainly did not.

My friend also was at the School of the Americas. He didn't tell me, but I figured it out. He was gone for a year.

In just a couple days, I’ll get up at are-you-fucking-serious o’clock to get on a who-flies-this-fucking-early plane to go across the country, where I will land at you-just-spent-the-entire-day-on-a-plane o’clock, just in time for rush hour.
