Also, if requirements, deadlines, or anything at all changes from what you were initially hired to do partway through a project, get a contract amendment. Any decent publisher will be happy to sign one in order to reflect the truth - it will avoid confusion down the road and protects both parties. 💚
Friends in the TTRPG sphere, if you are invited onto a project and there is: no contract, no structure, no deadline and you have been brought on while things are still being figured out: do not do the work until you have those things.
