Said this on a podcast recently but it bears repeating here - if you’re feeling like AI makes going into a creative field pointless, don’t lose sight of the fact that creating things has value. That’s why they want in on it so bad.

Don’t let some technocrat’s wet dream put out your fire.
Every little bit of AI slop I see gives me further determination to just make my own stuff. Even if only for the “fuck you, I made this” of it all.

Would it surprise you that the owner of Scientific American's parent company, Stefan von Holtzbrinck, invested $37 million in Inkitt, an AI firm?

What a SHOCK
Luckily, they are. bsky.app/profile/mark...

Thank you so much to the countless people supporting us in every way and in particular all of the Rutgers students and faculty who have supported us every step of the way.
Oh man, I just imagine what that map would look like with a harbor bridge bike lane.
Dedicated, skippable, and easily replayable if you took a week/month/year off between play sessions.
Show? Last Week Tonight.

Movie? Superman.
Neon NZ: "Your home for HBO MAX in NZ!

Except for that particular HBO show you like, we don't license it anymore.

And that movie you want to see that's on HBO MAX? No, you can't watch it with your subscription yet because we'd like to milk a few more weeks of rentals from our captive audience."

1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that
Resolve your storylines, show writers.

At least some of them. Please.

Especially in today's world where it is years between seasons, if a promised future season even happens at all, it is the least you can do for your audience.
Regardless of whether Lee would have approved, it should be illegal for an estate to authorize a ghouLLM of someone who died before they had a chance to say "fuck no"
For decades, Stan Lee was the king of comic conventions. Now, nearly seven years after his death at the age of 95, he will once again be a presence at L.A. Comic Con, this time as a hologram that will use AI to have conversations with fans.

cancelling Disney+ and Hulu is well and good but it’s not a huge hit on an individual level

but Disney adults? people who spend real money at the parks? you guys can make a dent, call ‘em up and tell them your vacation is postponed until they pull their heads out of their asses
Heard from a friend at Disney+ that there are multiple levels of freakout internally, both from internal dissatisfaction, concerns about subscription cancelations, and of course the big one: concern about a boycott spilling over into parks and cruises.
Fuck this both-sides bullshit.

really don't understand how so many people cling to the rules, like I think this is an actual liberal elite educated weakness: at some point your ability to analyze and consider the abstract means you lose sight of what's actually happening

Sometimes it's nice to remember that even Marcus Aurelius was like "you don't have to comment on everything bro"
This Emmys donation clock thing is one of the most off-putting gimmicks I've ever seen an awards show attempt.
Darth, this week I got cast in the largest role I've ever played and will be doing Shakespeare on stage for the first time in 30 years. Equal parts excited and anxious about it.
I will never ever understand the combination of {amazing coffee places in pretty much every neighborhood} with {every cafe is closed exactly when I need a coffee in the afternoon}.
Great thread on providing alt text whenever you post an image! Remember, you can always remember to alt text by clicking a box in your settings:
Klaatu... barata... necktie!

Wait, no, that wasn't it.
I cannot tell you how happy I am to hear this. Very eager to get to see this one.
Watched the Hurricanes live for the first time since I left the States, and they did not disappoint. What an amazing game.

Go Canes!
We'll see about that November 29th...
There have been at least 3 plays for @artbutmakeitsports.bsky.social in this game, it's wild.
