“Labour’s watered down Capital Gains Tax announcement today falls far short of meeting the needs of New Zealanders,” says the Green Party Co-Leader and Finance Spokesperson Chlöe Swarbrick.

The Hui and Te Karere have been so effective in telling stories uniquely Māori and holding those in power accountable.

We must invest more in Māori media - that's what good te Tiriti partnership looks like.
We are deeply concerned about major cuts to funding for Māori news and current affairs programmes Te Karere and The Hui, by Te Māngai Pāhō.

This is terrible for Māori media, and sadly consistent with this Government’s continual undermining of Māori culture.
Today’s the last day to mail your vote to be certain it will get counted. Get it in today.

We don't have to accept a future built on oil & gas.

Our Green Budget shows that by investing in renewable energy we can create decent jobs and lower power bills.

Instead of funding corporate greed, we can choose a future we can all be proud of 🌏💚
Oil & gas is not the solution to our energy crisis. It takes on average 16 years to go from exploration to production of fossil fuels.

What does this mean for Aotearoa?

It means higher emissions and no real end in sight to high power bills for our households and industry.
Nothing says climate leadership like opening new oil and gas fields in the middle of a climate crisis 🙄

The Govt announcing the re-opening of permits for oil & gas exploration says one thing:

short-term profits for the wealthy few takes priority over a liveable future for all of us.

The Greens have a plan to provide people with meaningful work. Our Green Jobs Guarantee will deliver an initial 40,000 jobs to rebuild our infrastructure, restore nature and build homes for people to live in.
People want to work and there are masses of important projects for people to work on - housing, climate protection, nature regeneration and others.

The main barrier to people finding work is this Government.
Latest stats indicating the worst unemployment numbers since the outbreak of the pandemic are further proof that the Govt’s policies are forcing people further into hardship and poverty.
A Green Government will ban oil and gas exploration and make the common sense investment decisions for the modern, resilient country we all deserve.
