This is horrifying.

The federal government is disappearing citizens. Just because this one was temporary does not make it any better for the rest of us (it clearly does for them).

This is another escalation.

The 15 y/o detained by CBP today in the East Side neighborhood has been released per a statement from his attorneys.

Story tk in the morning.
CHICAGO (October 14, 2025) – A 15-year-old American citizen was detained by Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents today in a manner reminiscent of authoritarian regimes, holding him incommunicado in a federal building garage for five hours without informing his family, stating any charges, or allowing him to call an attorney. The teenager, who is Hispanic and African American, was grabbed off a Chicago East Side street at approximately 12:30 p.m. CST slammed to the ground, kneed in the back, and zip-tied by CBP agents. He was then transported to a federal law enforcement facility not affiliated with CBP or ICE, where CBP agents held him, handcuffed, in the back of a vehicle in a garage—never booking him, never reading him his rights, never stating why he was detained, and never allowing him to contact his mother. For five hours, his mother had no idea where her son was or whether he safe. Federal agents provided no information about his whereabouts, no phone call, no explanation for the arrest. His mother’s terror was amplified by her son’s heart condition and the complete absence of any information from authorities.

"This is how people disappear in autocracies—grabbed off streets, held in unmarked locations, no calls to family, no stated charges, no due process," said Founding Partner Antonio M. Romanucci of Romanucci & Blandin, the firm that obtained his release this evening. "A 15-year-old American citizen was effectively 'disappeared' for five hours in Chicago. This is not law enforcement; this is the playbook of authoritarian regimes."

It’s basically this recipe.

If you actually make 3.5-ish lbs of potatoes, you’ll want more of sauce (maybe 1.5x-ish). The coconut milk + saffron really makes the recipe work. Cook time varies in my experience (usually closer to 90 minutes).

And I didn’t cut myself using the mandolin! So it’s all coming up milhouse so far.

Saffron scalloped potatoes! It’s a recipe that we usually only make on holidays, but I wanted to take advantage of the cheap potatoes on sale and we already had the saffron. Should pair nicely with salmon.

You know it’s the good stuff when it comes in a little glass jar and a teeny high quality drug baggie.

Viper I could make the enormous non-conventional engine, ridiculous styling, argument.

The Northstar car…

It. Has. A. Northstar. LMAO

Here’s the blue car lurking behind the 959.
A better picture of the Ferrari 121 LM and Ford GT. With a Mercedes / McLaren 722 behind it.

How many of the cars in this picture are supercars? And go!
A picture of a green Lamborghini Miura, in front of:

A Porsche 959, a Shelby Series 1, a gen one Dodge Viper, an XJ220, a latest gen Ford GT, and lurking in the background are a Ferrari 121 LM, rear end of a Lamborghini Countach, a Lamborghini Aventador, and the roofline of some red Ferrari.

The weird cars that hang around the edges of not quite supercars even though they meet all but one or two subjective metrics have always been my favorite cars.

RS200, NISMO 400R / GTRLM / Nür, RS6 Avant, 911 HiPo variants, etc.

I’m not saying I don’t believe them, but I think this statement is worth less than the energy I expended reading it.

Republicans and the consequences of their actions only happens after they are no longer useful.

The Arizona Republican Party just released this statement about the Politico article. I’ll take it, but if this is the case then the whole damn party needs to resign lmao
The Republican Party of Arizona stands for respect, civility, and conservative values. We fully condemn all racist, antisemitic, and inappropriate language.

Anyone engaging in the hateful rhetoric described in the Politico article published today must resign and be held accountable.

Chaotic evil is nowhere near the level of evil that my father-in-law used to follow.

He would *tear off the read pages* and throw them away.

Dog ear… that’s for amateurs.

If I were to equate this to preferences when it comes to March Madness I would say that you are definitely pro-chaos bracket.

And I salute you for it. Seeding is overrated in a one and done tourney.
gamecat235.bsky.social
The 959 kind of *redefined* what a supercar could be.

And also (ironically enough) set Porsche down a path of developing supercar killers which weren’t technically supercars themselves.
gamecat235.bsky.social
As someone who was born in the mid-70’s I can tell you with some confidence that the term supercar was not unknown to me in the mid-80’s, which meant it had to predate ~1984-ish.

Also, I’m assuming you mean 288 GTO, yeah?
gamecat235.bsky.social
In this math where does the Pantera fit? What about the Stratos? Or in the most absurd case, the RS200?
gamecat235.bsky.social
I have witnessed that.

Maybe a dozen or two comments with nearly a couple hundred votes, and sometimes most of the votes being contrary to the politicking / vocal minority trying to sway folks to their (obviously correct) preferences.
gamecat235.bsky.social
I can only speak for myself. I randomly stumbled across this around the beginning of the last round. I DGAF about seeding. (I also listen to WAY too much music and have super strong opinions about most music from 1983 on).
gamecat235.bsky.social
The Real Thing was my favorite album of the entirety of 1989 *in* 1989. And it has aged remarkably well.
gamecat235.bsky.social
I’m the target audience for Doolittle. I was then, I was in the 90’s, people meeting me now would assume I was.

BUT, I spent most of 1989/90 listening to DOC and The Iceberg (along with a lot more), but these two plus The Real Thing were my running, walking, riding soundtrack.

also correct, and any dem worth a shit would be hammering them on that aspect of this charade, since fed civs are one thing, fuck us, but USCG are still troopies and they got boned last time too when the rest of DoD was fat and happy

since there's reports on social media of money hitting accounts worth reiterating that this is illegal and unconstitutional as shit, it's not a close question, and while I don't expect anyone on H/SASC or H/SAC will do anything, anyone performing this 'reprogramming' should face criminal penalties
mikeblack114.bsky.social
It's also worth reiterating that absent this reprogramming authority being written into law it would be not just illegal but flatly unconstitutional for DoD to expend money in any fashion not explicitly specified (by both type/use and quantity) by Congress in an appropriations bill
mikeblack114.bsky.social
Since we're getting a crash course in DoD reprogramming authority, CRS has a good report on it linked below. Some important points:

Congress gives DoD reprogramming authority because when you're dealing with a trillion dollars, some stuff is probably going to need to be changed over 12 months

Yes, you should be surprised and horrified by secret federal police running around our city kidnapping immigrants, crashing cars, launching chemical weapons and shooting and killing people. This is a thing you should be *perpetually* shocked by. We lose when we become numb to it.

The erosion of what rights are, and the sheer apathy of our population when it comes to losing them, is maddening.

“abusing their right to protest”

Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson's full statement, in which she says she will sign an EO permitting protest "only at the safety zone located at the ICE facility on Beach Street," is up on the village's website.

"There are too many protesters abusing their right to protest," Thompson says.

Broadview Shrinks Protest Safety Zones

The following statement can be attributed to Village of Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson:

“The protests at the ICE facility on Saturday night degenerated into chaos. There were 15 arrests, and 10 of those were around the age of my own daughter. As a mother and a mayor, I am mad. Broadview didn’t choose to have the ICE facility in our community. But it’s here. And so are Broadview residents. There are too many protesters abusing their right to protest. Too many are raising their fists rather than their voices, creating chaos at the expense of the people who call Broadview home. Broadview residents lack the protestors’ privilege to return to calm, quiet neighborhoods for undisturbed rest.

Therefore, I have issued a new executive order, in consultation with the Illinois State Police and Cook County Sheriff, that permits protests only at the safety zone located at the ICE facility on Beach Street.

There will no longer be a designated protest safety zone at 2000 South 25th Avenue between Lexington and Fillmore.

Additionally, it has been only God’s grace alone that a protester has not been struck and killed by a motorist on 25th Avenue given how frequently protesters dash onto this busy, four-lane street. This new
measure will provide for both the serenity of residents and safety of protestors.

As I have repeatedly said, I respect, support, and defend the protesters’ free and – peaceful – speech against the outrageous injustices and deplorable unprovoked chemical arms attacks by ICE agents against American citizens, journalists, and ministers that put Broadview police and firefighters in harms’ way.

Nevertheless, my first priority is to defend public safety and the residents who live here and people who work here. They deserve stability, safety, and respect, a quality of life that is currently being denied to them. They deserve the love and kindness that they expect by being Broadview residents.”
