My therapist prescribed me a weekend alone. I don’t do alone well, so I find the concept terrifying. As a compromise I decided to take myself to a concert; something I've done maybe 3 times in the last 25 years, and I didn’t even like it then.

Life is weird. I just dropped my wife off to stay overnight with her boyfriend and now I’m scrolling on a dating app while I wait for my girlfriend to come over, and all of it feels mundane.

This is something I wish I had realized when I decided to be polyamorous. I could say I was ok with the same breath that my body went into fight or flight mode. It’s not easy to get past, and I would constantly struggle with the idea that I “failed.” It takes work, but it does get better.
We don’t talk enough about the fact that just because your BRAIN logically wants and understands polyamory, it doesn’t mean your BODY has caught up to the values you want to live by.

Inviting my girlfriend to the house because my wife is on a date is not a sentence I ever expected to feel… normal.

Was not prepared for the level of self-healing and introspection that comes with polyamory. It really faces you to confront the reasons for your emotions on a level I expect from the best therapy session.

Video games were my special interest growing up (still are really). I especially loved video game magazines like GamePro, which had a short-lived TV show in 1991. For the last 18 years I have walked into the exact same studio this show was shot in several times a day. Life is weird.

Why yes I did change all my Tinder pictures to muppet versions of myself. If anything, it’s a good way to weed out people who are no fun.
