Tackled one of the greaves of the Scriptor tonight to get a feel for him. Yep… this will be a challenge.
A bit worried though that four layers of different blue plus the white highlights are clogging the recesses, #WarhammerCommunity should I thin with water instead of Lahmian? #WIP

This time I went all in on the details: no shortcuts, nothing skipped, even if it took a while.
And I’ve got to say… I’m rarely truly happy with my minis, but looking at this guy, I can’t help grinning from ear to ear. 😁

No finished mini this week. I see the Chaplain as kind of a test run for the mini I consider the final boss of my first hobby year. So I’m trying to push the details as far as my current skill level allows… which might take a few more days 😅

And the Parasite of Mortrex is done! Had a blast painting it. Gluing it together… not so much. Nothing seemed to fit quite right, as the gaps in the pictures clearly show.
Anyway, he’s the last of the Vardenghast Swarm. So, week 43: Minis 50, Combat Patrols 1 😁

Since I’m making good progress with the Parasite, I figured I’d give glazing another try. And holy cow, pulling the moisture out of the brush after loading the paint actually worked. Not the nicest glaze job ever, but for the first time, it really looks like one. 😁

The Captain is done! Can’t believe I actually managed to finish him in a week. Lots of stuff I’d never tried before — some worked out great, some not so much. But overall, I’m really happy with how he turned out.

#WarhammeCommunity I’m a bit unsure about the decal, it is a bit too small for the shield. What should I do?
1️⃣ Leave it as is
2️⃣ Paint the rim black
3️⃣ Remove the decal, paint the shield white, cut out only the cross, and place it on the black shield?

1st attempt at painting a cloak. Not utterly terrible, but not great either. Even though I thinned the paints down to almost wash consistency, I just couldn’t get smooth transitions, the layers are way too visible. Also, Nuln Oil probably wasn’t the best choice for the shadows 😅 #WarhammerCommunity

The Prime is done. The edge highlights didn’t quite turn out the way I imagined, should’ve stuck with drybrushing instead of doing them by hand. But so what, overall he’s okay, and we paint and learn. Next to tackle: The captain

Finally some progress on the Termagants. Batch-painting 10 gants at once was a disaster - repeating the same step 10 times in a row just killed my motivation.
Happened twice now, so: no more batch painting for me. One mini at a time!

“Not as much progress as planned” might slowly become my motto.
Although, last week I didn’t just paint Termagants but also the living room.
And guess what? Painting the room (without moving furniture) went faster than a single Termagant. Food for thought 😂
