I had read that Japanese better understand English words if you speak w an accent. After several blank stares I barked "Ritzu Carlton" in a horribly racist sounding borderline Jerry Lewis cadence. Felt AWFUL as I said it. Driver smiled and dropped me at my hotel.

Yep. Also it can take quite a while to street hail a cab outside of the Tokyo core and good luck finding a cabbie who speaks any English outside of Tokyo. Even in Osaka I never found one (I recognize that I don't speak Japanese either but not the point)

These are not a factor domestically but a huge one for international travel: reliability. Bangkok or KL are lousy with cabs, tub-tuks and motorbike hails. But if you want to know what you are paying and have a better chance at getting to the right place you call a car on the Grab App

Told my effing wife a few times not to let 8yo play w her K Pop demon hunters sword before Halloween to no avail. Now I have a dropped & broken sword, a crying kid, 45 bucks less in my wallet and a hope that the expensive shitty plastic sword replacement arrives by Halloween. FML.

Working on a true indie film (which I never do). It's a drama with a central action sequence. In a logistics meeting our extremely wealthy Swiss producer made the batshit insane suggestion that we shoot the action scene in 3D. Left the room speechless. Never heard anything funnier in my career

I worked on Manhattan Murder Mystery and she was one of the few actresses I met who just absolutely glowed. Her, Isabella and a young Sarah Jessica Parker each walked around like they had a soft light on them at all times
