I didn't give the beast crest in silksong a real shot bc I didn't like the pogo but now that I'm watching other people use it I've gotta load up my save again bc it looks so fucking fun. Love the more intense taunts and the extra voicelines hornet has when she goes feral 😳

He's had the most horrible things done to him and he's done horrible things to other people. He's suffered and been abused and hurt others and tried so hard to be better and been hurt more and failed to learn from his mistakes and caused more hurt...

He always strives for self improvement but it doesn't lead to neat character arcs. This is partially bc of the nature of magic story having lots of people working on it but it's also bc he struggles to grow and properly learn from his mistakes, more like an actual human.

Seconding what radley and renske said. He's very interesting and layered, full of contraditions in a way that's painfully human and the subject of some of the best writing the game has to offer.

Which makes sense, the guy has been used as a tool from the getgo and is often seen for his capabilities and not his personhood. It's rarely who is Jace but always what can Jace do. In a way, he is pushed around narratively by his telepathy. He is a control color who is really not in control at all.

His abilities weigh heavy on him and someties he wields them with casual cruelty. They make him capable of perfect(but hollow) empathy but at a horrible cost. It's very blue, like you can become anything!! Go as far as your abilities and knowledge take you. And they can take him FAR.

He likes that he can look menacing, occasionally enjoys being terrifying, completely misjudges how scary and invasive even his mildest powers are to others. Often he is also disgusted with himself, fearful of his powers hurting others, but also relishes the fact that he as improved them so much.

I love this because he's kinda cursed with this skill but also, if he could choose he would probably keep it. Because he enjoys that power too. His first question upon regaining the memory of his name was "am I a good person" and still he is probably about to blow up the multivere. Hmmmm conflict 💙

What I enjoy a lot in the stories about him is the 'struggle' between his personhood and his abilities. My interpretation is that he is very focused on what he can do for others (whether good things or bad things) and it is the only way he really knows how to position himself in relation to others.

i love Jace Beleren for all the reasons other fans like him, but i love him for all the reasons his haters despise him, too. every brilliant, beautiful, and terrifying aspect of Jace is true. layers upon layers of character with this blue guy. i love everything about it 💙
