At first it was intimidating because I had a rough high school experience and honestly, I barely escaped.

But once I got to undergrad at my HBCU, that experience lifted me , and I actually graduated Cum Laude.

So I sat it was definitely a great experience for me.

I do think traditional college isn’t for every one, though. It should be an honest conversation that high school students need to be having with both their parents, mentors, and guidance counselors.

And there’s nothing wrong with any choice as long as it gets you what you need.

How much work it took to get out of there with a degree lol. I don’t miss those late nights writing, being in the labs, and etc until building security kicked us out. But I look back on it now, and it definitely helped shape me for my future.

Oh, I’m definitely not able now lol. I literally am too old for a lot of that stuff for real.

But I have to admit, it helped shape me a lot, especially being around mostly Black people.

16. What was your least favorite thing about college?

I actually liked my major. Spending time in the labs, both video and film development. Writing copy. Doing PR.

I also enjoyed time with the people I hung out with, especially when we all moved off campus. The parties. The road trips to Atlanta and Macon. Whew…

The next craziest is going to a victory party for a friend’s twin brother who won Student Council President.

Still don’t know how I got across to the other side of campus and in my bed 😂

Even though it was a dangerous time, I wish I could have been out more. There were a couple of out Queer men, and of course they were dogged out by everybody. But they stood ten toes down in their queerness regardless.

Anything that was edible lol. I was more broke than broke was broke, and that cafeteria food was hit or miss lol.

We also had a floor mate who worked at a chicken place, so we absolutely feasted on the bird on occasion, which was a life saver

10. What was your go to meal in college?

Well, I started off locally to where I grew up. Then I transferred to my undergrad, which is an HBCU.

Once I got over the home sickness during the first half of the first year there, I had a BLAST the rest of the time up until graduation!!!
