Back in June, I biked to the far northwestern point of the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, to see a very special place

At Uig in 1831 the famous Lewis Chessmen were discovered in coastal dunes. Made of walrus-ivory they are Norwegian, C12th AD. This great carving of the king now stands close by 🤩

The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu & Gallant for war crimes & crimes against humanity.

The UK government must comply with the ICC, end all arms sales, impose economic sanctions & suspend its trade deal with Israel.

Nothing less will do.

An early morning walk back from Annapurna base camp (4130m) with a good view of the Machapuchare ‘fishtail’ summit ahead. June 2022. At just below 7000m it is one of the few Himalayan peaks that has never been climbed. As a revered ‘holy’ mountain the Nepal government will not issue a permit.

A favourite album is Kraftwerk’s ‘Minimum - Maximum’. The vinyl version now goes for silly money. Autobahn was groundbreaking stuff and remains an amazing soundscape of audio goodness.

Today is world day of remembrance for road traffic victims.

A day to pause and think about the many people who die on our roads, the many bereaved or living with life changing injuries and the emergency services who deal daily with the distressing and traumatic aftermath of road death and injury.
