one of the benefits of reading modern poetry is learning to be ok with the experience of a text washing over you, and not needing to have solid answers to “what does it mean” and “why”.

The ESA protects wildlife, plants, and the lands we all depend on.

🛢️ This latest proposal is part of a broader effort to gut the ESA. they issued another proposal to redefine “harm” so narrowly that habitat loss wouldn’t even count...

Sex trafficking on Meta platforms was both difficult to report and widely tolerated. Instagram’s former head of safety testified that when she joined Meta in 2020 she was shocked to learn the company had a “17x” strike policy for accounts that engaged in the “trafficking of humans for sex.”

Religion has been the cause of many wars and not the spirituality it claims to be.
Objectively speaking, I’m not so sure religion as an experiment is working on this planet.

At best, the results are decidedly mixed for those who claim faith.

As often as we are the peacemakers, we have been the warmongers...

A Trump supporter started murdering his way through an assassination list of Democratic law makers FIVE MONTHS AGO. He murdered my colleague Melissa Hortman, and her husband Mark — and attempted to assassinate my dear friend John Hoffman and his wife Yvette. I was also on the hit list. WTF

And yet they won't impeach him.
The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

Got my first taste of the ugly side of this platform yesterday, and it stung quite a bit. Someone reposted one of my progress pics with some extremely derogatory remarks about me. Not going into details, as I blocked them, but I didn't sign up for that.

Teaching about the jury today and reading “Why Jury Duty Matters” again.

It is a book that should be at the center of civic and democracy debates. Perhaps today more than when it was written, it offers a path forward. #Books

It occurs to me now that the discipline of history was not born out of reverence for the past, but rather out of somebody watching the people in charge make the most insane decisions and just being like “if I don’t write this down nobody’s ever gonna believe any of it happened”

It was written by the Heritage Foundation, the same group behind Project 2025.
