Did you know that according to ISO 27001, 8.28 Secure coding, pair programming, refactoring, and test-driven development are considered to be secure coding practices?
Next time someone ask, shh, just let it happen!

Update on my Rust journey:

Found out that a program can "panic!" when encountering an unexpected behaviour, and thought that instead of calling "panic!", I'd create my own wrapper with the ASCII representation of the "spongebob panicking" gif.

Time well spent, I'd say! 😆

Becoming a web developer has been both the best and worst decision I've made.

Once you know how the sausage is made, there's no turning back..

Some dark UX patterns should be considered criminal 😤

"345 partner's" wanting to capitalize on my personal data, and I either pay to have my privacy respected, or agree to being exploited... ???

F*cking criminal behaviour this.

@howtogeek.bsky.social way to drive privacy conscious people out of your website...

I am one more :any away from seriously learning Rust and attempt to secure a job in it full-time.

Ain't nobody got time to deal with runtime errors because no one bothers to type things correctly or even configure Typescript to perform strict null checks. 😫

Go read this thread from start to finish instead of doom scrolling for dopamine hits!
To conclude: my silver lining hope is that AWS going down can be a learning moment, in which the risks of concentrating the nervous system of our world in the hands of a few players become very clear. And that this can help us craft ways of undoing this concentration and creating real choice ❤️ 13/

You can also take this opportunity to switch to Linux and live happily ever after while not being spied on on a payed/proprietary OS!

I love when I stumble across software that doesn't spy on me, is optimized to use as little resources as possible, accomplishes exactly what it set out to do and just works!

Too bad that's the outlier and not the norm nowadays...

I have so many things I'd like to learn and do, but working full time just drains all my energy. 🫠

We need 4 day work weeks ASAP!

TIL you can have a fully fledged music player running in the terminal, and the geek in me teared up a little. 🥲

Plus, it only consumes roughly 33Mb of RAM! For comparison, VLC consumes roughly 3.5x more.

I love #Linux and #OSS 🥹

Didn't let procrastination take the best of me and just finished it!

This is for all of you thread lovers out there, a full PWA which helps you split text into more digestible chunks!

Fully installable, works offline, no data harvesting or spying. Like it should be!

Even people with +5y of xp are hurting atm.

Interviewing was never easy in this field, but right now even *getting* to an interview is tough.

Mass AI applications are definitely a factor, but the saturation of junior roles in this industry is not recent either.

Best of luck to those looking rn!
Three years later, this prediction happened as expected.

Bootcamps are mostly dead and have been dying since 2022: because of the job market.

New grads from college / uni can barely get jobs. Boorcampers even less so: no demand

I thought bsky would be different, but even here I get exposed to needless social media drama that I couldn't care less.

Waffles, pancakes, who gives a damn... We're all flour from the same sack yet we can't find a way to get along.

Empathy and understanding really are rare skills nowadays.

We have a choice to fight back against companies who seem to be led by people deprived of moral and ethical values.

We have a choice other than being complacent with their attitude and leadership.

We can & must to better!

Why are CEOs of major tech companies just a bunch of amoral & entitled assholes?

It doesn't have to be that way fss

Having the urge to to get off my ass and start a company just to prove you can lead AND embody great values.

They're not mutually exclusive.

It's like CEOs and stakeholders played Cyberpunk and wanted it to make it a reality 💀
I have the feeling that there is a trend in tech companies to be much more aggressive than in the past (3 years ago or so?).

Companies never were "friends" but I think nowadays we are reaching some worrying red lines.
