Lots of new people here today! A bit about me since I've never posted an intro:

- I work in tech but don't talk about it much
- I like crafts and making stuff. Most recently I have been into crochet
- I like video games
- I have ADHD
- I watch a lot of TV shows while doing said crafting and gaming
Exciting Saturday evening activity, Stewart gave himself a haircut for the first time - naturally I got to be a second set of eyes. He did a good job, looks very dapper!

I caved and purchased from the Aritzia sale... All different colours of stuff I already have. Not the worst purchase because I know I'll like it!

Alright Bluesky, I would love to hear your recommendations of Canadian businesses you are shopping from for gifts for the holidays. Specific product recommendations are also welcome!

This. I want to read the bad food takes, I want to hear all about your hiding place at your in-laws while the uncles fight, I want to know the weirdest holiday traditions you have. I want to rank Thanksgiving side dishes. All of it.
my take on Food Discourse is that it's always ridiculous but it's also nice to be fighting about dumb internet shit again instead of dealing with Oppressive Despair all the time so please keep posting your bad takes

I had like 2-3 places I wanted to buy from during sales and for whatever reason, having not bought those things was blocking me from thinking about Christmas shopping sooooo I just bought the things. Now to Christmas shop.

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

All of this. And even past this, "I would rather potentially have a child dead from a painful and preventable disease than potentially one with neurodivergence" is one HELL of a take.
I think my biggest problem with the "vaccines cause autism" bullshit is that, even assuming they did (they don't, actually), neurodiversity is...good?

"Oh no, instead of polio and measles, people are cool and have new and different ways of thinking about things" is, uh, a really weird flex

Don't be intolerant of people for the things they can't control like their ethnicity, race or gender.

Do be intolerant of people for the things they can control like their greed, their corruption and their intolerance of people for things they can't control.

Thanks for coming to my #TedTalk.

Verdict on the loom knitting, it's pretty good and I would recommend it if it interests you. The biggest issue I have with crocheting is keeping track of what row/stitch I am on and a loom basically takes care of it. Also seems like a perfect method for making socks

Last night I remembered that I have knitting looms, so I think I might actually learn how to use one of those today
