Today I learned that there is somebody out there who believes Nebraska's entire delegation (and gub) are "RINOs".

This would be a horrible lineup for a county fair.
Turning Point USA has announced the performers for their alternative Super Bowl halftime show:

Seeing SCTV for the first time was a formative experience, much like my first time hearing Led Zeppelin.
SCTV is on Internet Archive if you'd like to enjoy the early work of Catherine O'Hara and her fellow sketch comedy gods.

Come for the excellent food trivia, stay for the boots on the ground updates from Minneapolis.
Not that you asked, but here's a thread of intriguing (real!) food facts to amuse/bore your friends and family.

Great for gatherings when you need to change the subject!

On both Facebook and Twitter I saw more posts asking if the car was okay than caring about the child who was hit.

Very thankful for the good and decent people on this platform.
Every day is just filled with awful things. I hope that girl is okay.

Things I learned today: B1G HQ shares a building with a Fogo de Chao
Good morning

The Big Ten has won three straight national titles, but the SEC is kicking its ass in TV ratings.

Why is this happening, and more importantly, should you care?

AN EXTRA POINTS INVESTIGATION:

Should you care about a Big Ten/SEC TV ratings war?
One conference is winning championships. The other is winning TV viewers. Does it matter? And for whom?

The good part of my day:

Watched my youngest play really well in her first VB tournament of the season.

Intentionally avoided the Nebrasketball game, knowing a) being present was much more important and b) I could stay spoiler-free and catch a stream when I got home

Plus, had a terrific lunch.

By this logic:

Citizens of Carter Lake, Iowa should be able to vote for Nebraska's governor, and the folks in Ciudad Juarez should be able to cast ballots for in presidential elections.

Your annual reminder that everyone in your home should know:

1) Where the water shutoff is for the house.
2) How to turn it off.

Every minute with a burst pipe running equals an hour of clean up.

I assume "WTA" stands for "what the actual"
Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen began his tele-town hall with a poll asking participants what the most important issue is for them this legislative session.

The options were:
protect our kids, fix the property tax crisis, defend Nebraska values, bolster Nebraska agriculture, and WTA

Nebraska has a long and storied history of (double checks) backhanded political maneuvers to "target strong conservatives"

(eye roll emoji)
From former State Sen. Dan McKeon today who resigned last week. Saying “We've seen similar patterns before with the same political playbook used to target strong conservatives, nationally and here at home.”

Give credit that he has identified a legitimate problem (one of many with ICE) and wants to do something about it.

The bad news is his idea is just slightly better than "grab the gun out of their hands and perform a citizen's arrest".

Well intended, deadly results.
I am introducing the Quick Recognition (QR) Act, which requires ICE and CBP officers to wear uniforms featuring QR codes. When scanned, the code would generate a digital ID displaying the officer’s name, badge number, and law enforcement agency.

ICE should be unmasked both physically and digitally.
