i can cognitively recognize that's just how it is sometimes and it's not personal; but when it's a lifelong experience, man is it difficult to not entertain the "maybe it was just me/maybe i wasn't enough" mindset! i can't say i wish this particular assortment of feelings on anyone else. it's rough.

there's a huge level of grief i still haven't figured out how to navigate in unpacking how deep the effects of being neglected run, especially when seeing how those figures experienced growth and change to show up for new connections in ways that were never possible for me
