Men are extremely keen to explain to me that Britain *needs* a domestic steel production plant and doesn't necessarily *need* universities. Okay. Steel contributed about £1.7bn to the UK economy in 2024. Universities contributed more than £200bn.

Since Water Privatisation every single household has paid nearly £6,000 more for their water.
In return they have built up vast debts totalling £5,000 per customer while letting the water network fall to pieces.
They should be thrown in prison and Water renationalised for free.

Allow me to address the elephant in the room: The decades-long outsourcing of domestic manufacturing to China was not an insidious Chinese conspiracy for dominance but the greedy strategy of the American ruling class to explode its profit margins by exploiting global inequality.

Note: This response (below, which is real) to Trump’s tweet depicting himself as pope is from the New York State Catholic Bishops, who represent the collective bishops of the state.
Among them is Cardinal Dolan of NYC, who Trump appointed to his new religious liberty commission this week.

Interesting.
'Moving to the right' is not working for centrist parties - as shown in several European nations.
'ignoring' as strategy - what Biden did - also did not work.
What does work? My take: Full-blown push-back coupled with nationalism - the 'Carney' method.

Love to see some polling on whether people think immigration has fallen in the last year. I'm fairly sure a large majority would say no.
The significant fall in immigration (visas) in 2024 is now a fact, not a forecast.
The 2024 net migration figure will be published in May 2025. Media and political discourse will catch up - a little bit - after those figures come up, but net migration is towards half of what most people say it is

This is the endless pattern of Republicans causing a recession and Democrats bailing us out -- and then Dems get blamed because they inherit a crap economy and are doing catch-up their whole term.
And the voting public doesn't have the common sense to break the circle.
