Apparently it's the purple brittlegill

(You learn something everyday)

These were feathery edged and all over the tree and it's stump
Tree branches and stumps covered with yellow/ beige funghi with a feathery edge

Today's woodland walk had so many varieties of funghi

Including this purple one that I've never seen before (and some baby pink ones)

Nature is amazing.

I used to trick myself into doing the washing up by just deciding to wash the plates (easy but bulky so it felt like I'd done loads)

I nearly always finished the job

I saw something recently that said a strategy for adhd is you just need to commit to doing 30%. The full scope of 100% of a project is just too overwhelming. So just start with some thumbnails or sketches for now and then commit to another 30% another day or week. Any progress IS progress

Thanks for the reminder - it's been a long time since they were on my radar

friends (sometimes desperately) but also find social interaction, nuance, communication, physical touch to be somewhere on the mensa-tricky to unbearable spectrum

Who shout at you everyday
Who reject you
Who only wants to talk at 2am
Who say life is pointless

It's hard to find my happy

I know all parenting comes with challenges

That the teenage years are particularly "goal-post moving"

That puberty & adolescence add extra spice

But having two AuDHD children who struggle to leave their beds / bedrooms, who don't engage in school or social activities, who want ....

1/2

I've done laundry which I'm not sure is going to dry & had to stop myself putting a 3rd load in 🤦🏻
emmalgsutton.bsky.social
For me, I feel it's some balancing act...

The more out of control my life feels in one area (the emotional turmoil & chaos of the kids' anxiety), the more I want a sense of order & control in areas where I have influence (how chaotic stuff is under the sink)

Restoring order is calming
emmalgsutton.bsky.social
Stress has hit "tidying under the sink" levels

I've too many microfibre cloths & dusters - time to donate

I've also cleaned the oven glass so you can see through without peering through oily gunk

In other news, son is on day 'alot' of school refusal & daughter failed to get up for tuition

I can still recall a phone number from the 1980s (that hasn't existed for over 35 years)

Parents drilled home numbers into their kids for safety

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Oo - that might be me too
I keep typing triple i's when using my laptop & getting frustrated at my brain/ fingers that used to be able to type without those errors

Could be dementia but more likely dust

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

My friend Sascha is a professional musician and he's lost a viola bow on the way to Heathrow. Please signal boost to help him get it back.
Lost viola bow on the way from Honor Oak Station to Heathrow Terminal 2. The bow slid from its bow case somewhere along the way, possibly on the train. TFL contacted already.
It weighs 68.2 grams and has got a stamped DODD next to the frog. If any info on this, please pm me.

Sunday

Pre-Monday anxiety kicks in
The tension is palpable
Innocent questions get barely a grumble in response
Zero eye contact, smiles, lightness
The atmosphere is heavy, sliceable
And no attempt at levity works because even the thought of Monday is DOOM

School refusal robs the weekend of fun

I am amazed even 1/10 SEND parents say they're getting support at the right level

As one of the 9 in 10, the exhausting battle, the constant emails, phonecalls, letters, research, websites is overwhelming and time/energy consuming

If you're wondering how things are going - I'm at "hoovering behind the sofas" level of anxiety

Tonight I'm defusing situations & trying to assess appropriate consequences for my teenage neurodiverse son that's escalated to warfare levels

With mobile phones at least there's video evidence of just how bad they've been that's undeniable if #gutted

Parenting is not for the faint-hearted

My daughter always felt her needs were invisible in school because she withdrew, went inside

All the attention went to the loud pupils

The quiet ones need to be seen & helped just as much
theautisticcoach.bsky.social
People think meltdowns are always loud and explosive.

They’re not.

Sometimes they’re invisible.

The body still floods, the system still crashes - but it happens inside.

No shouting. No crying. Just silence.

You stop speaking, or your brain goes blank.

Accommodations for neurodivergent students should be implemented from the start - not after they've already become distressed

And they shouldn't be taken away b/c they're "doing well"

Schools need to be proactive - not reactive

#OntEd #EduSky #autism #neurodiversity #disability

(From Neurowild)
Image of illustration by Neurowild that shows two people with speech bubbles. First person is saying "Jack seems to be doing quite well lately. Does he still need all those supports?". Second person is saying "Yes. He's doing well BECAUSE he is appropriately supported".

Rigid thinking is not a universal autistic trait. In fact, some autistic people are more cognitively flexible than most nonautistic people.

So why is cognitive rigidity mentioned in the autism section of the DSM?

Here's my take...
