I think The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is due for a revival. It's a classic, but more importantly it's a classic that was widely misunderstood and the popculture view of it is more shaped by early movies that grossly simplified the story than by the book itself. There is so much there.

One of the problem with the sentiments of going underground is like, yeah some people might but most people wont. Most of the people you follow online who create the NSFW content you enjoy, be it drawing or writing or photography, are barely getting by as it is if they do it full time.
